ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

The Facilities Management Division is part of the Office of Administrative Services.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position works in a postal environment. Responsibilities include selling postal services and products to the public and university departments; uses package tracking software; performs mail delivery routes; picks up, sorts and distributes mail, and processes Permit Mailings using various equipment. Performs close out procedure and enters data into deposit worksheet daily.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Process all outgoing domestic and international mail for the area of the contract unit and advise customers of most cost effective way to send out their mail. Collect payment from customers to include cash, debit and credit. Collect mailbox rental fees for over 1000 mailboxes. Explain procedures to customers on opening their mailboxes. Request postal supplies, merchandise and equipment thru the United States postal system. Inspect for damage upon receiving. Place in proper storage location.
Responsible for sorting and distributing mail from the United States Postal Service (USPS) and intra-campus mail routes, such as letter and flat mail with accuracy and speed. This position uses USF Postal vehicles to perform mail deliveries (Delivery Routes) and collections from student mailrooms and campus buildings within a set timeframe. Maximum weightlifting ability is 70 pounds.
Responsible for processing approximately 65,000 packages including Accountable Mail pieces by utilizing a computer tracking program, scanners, handheld signature devices and computers. After processing packages, places packages in proper equipment for delivery on campus and securing in appropriate location for mailbox holders. Accountable mail includes USPS, UPS, Fed Ex, DHL, and all other independent carriers.
Process Permit mailings using the Quadient software program. Set up, run, package and label mailings to be delivered to the USPS daily on the Buskro and/or Relay 7000. Give paperwork to the supervisor for each mailing to be billed in the USF P O Charges and Billing programs.
Responsible for operating scales, data collection systems, and meter machines which includes inputting addresses into the metering program. This position processes mail in an efficient and responsible manner and inspects mail service documents for completeness.
Responsible for daily maintenance of postal machinery. In addition, this position receives safety training from the University and USPS and needs to be knowledgeable of special handling techniques required for acceptance and transportation of fragile, toxic, flammable, hazardous, or short-shelf-life goods.
Distribute all incoming mail to over 1000 mailbox holders on a daily basis. May include: First class, registered, certified, USPS Tracking and other carrier mail. Forward or return all mail for box holders that have been evicted or moved. Complete process in the USF Mailbox program for these box holders. Print bi-weekly renewal notices for box holders. And place in mailboxes.
Processing of Undeliverable-As-Addressed (UAA) mail efficiently and effectively by handling all UAA mail according to USF and USPS procedures and regulations. This includes using a computer program to process USPS tracking and Accountable mail that is UAA, Forwarding or Refused.
Perform a nightly close out for Retail sales including printing reports, check and reconcile information and prepare daily cash deposit. Enter into Financial data bases for deposit to cashiers' office.  Accountable for your own stamp inventory and cash at all times.
Responsible for vehicle inspections and reporting problems to the supervisor.
Perform additional related duties. In addition, this position is responsible for answering routine phone inquiries, answering the doors and cleaning as instructed when needed.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a high school diploma, and one year of related experience.
PREFERRED:
Experience with U.S. Postal Service mail processes and postal machinery.  Microsoft Office, customer service, sales and cash handling experience.  Knowledge of the USF Tampa campus.
SPECIAL SKILLS/TRAINING:
The ability to drive large vehicles. A valid Florida Driver's License is required to operate large, motorized vehicles utilized to deliver mail. Experience in working in environments that require standing for long periods of time.  Must be able to work in indoor and outdoor environments to include walking and climbing stairs. Lifting and moving up to 70 pounds. Good oral and written communication skills.
