ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
Research Integrity & Compliance is a unit within the USF system vice presidential area, Research & Innovation.  The main function of RIC is to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations pertaining to the responsible conduct of research.  The Division is responsible for such programs as the Human Research Protection, Animal Safety, Diving Safety, Radiation Safety, Biosafety, Scientific Misconduct, Conflicts of Interest in Research, and HIPAA, among others.  RIC has 32 employees and an annual budget of nearly $3 million.  Clients are USF research faculty, students, and staff, as well as researchers at affiliated institutions.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will be responsible for the administration of central research compliance programs, in particular, the Conflict of Interest Program within Research Integrity & Compliance.   This position will be responsible for assisting to ensure compliance with federal regulations and University policies and procedures.   This position will also be charged with serving as a resource to faculty, staff and colleagues in other departments.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists with the day to day management of the USF System Conflicts of Interest in Research Program.   Solicits and reviews Significant Financial Interest disclosures from Investigators to ensure the University's continued compliance with the federal regulation regarding objectivity in research and other federal policies and regulations.
Provides consultation to faculty, staff and affiliate investigators to ensure compliance with federal regulations, state law and University policies and procedures.   Communicates with other departments, including Sponsored Research, the Technology Transfer Office, and USF Health Faculty Affairs, to facilitate compliance with federal regulations and University policies and procedures.
Communicates with USF faculty and staff to ensure that subrecipient investigators on U.S. Public Health Service and National Science Foundation-funded research are compliant with federal regulations.   Solicits disclosures from subrecipients and maintains the Program's subrecipient database
Coordinates educational sessions for faculty and staff on regulatory compliance.   Maintains attendance records and updates/tracks training status.
Coordinates COI Committee meetings by sending out meeting invites, ensuring quorum, and preparing meeting materials.
Communicates with USF Affiliates to ensure that affiliate's conflict of interest are appropriately managed and communicated to the USF IR and IACUC.
MINIMUM:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree and one year of experience in research or research administration; or a Master's degree. Four years of progressively responsible work experiencing research or research administration may substitute for the Bachelor's degree.
PREFERRED:
Masters degree in health administration or similar field relating to health care research. One year experience working with faculty on compliance issues in a university setting or working in a central office of a major research university; and experience using data management software such as Click Commerce.
