Gulf Marine Repair in Tampa, FL is seeking to hire a full-time Crane Operator to operate a variety of heavy, specialized lifting and rigging equipment at our shipyard. This is a 1st shift position with a typical schedule of 7:30 am to 4 pm.
Our Crane Operators earn a competitive starting wage of $23.30/hour based on experience. Gulf Marine Repair specializes in the repair, conversion, and modification of large ocean-going commercial vessels, tugs and barges, dredges, small ships, and harbor tugs, as well as US Coast Guard, MARAD, USACE, and NOAA vessels. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CRANE OPERATOR
As a Crane Operator, you operate a variety of heavy, specialized lifting equipment to lift and transport large and heavy loads such as equipment or construction materials. Before you start working, you make sure that the equipment is functioning properly and notify management of any issues. The equipment you run includes crawler cranes, lattice boom cranes, barge-mounted friction cranes, rough terrain forklifts and loaders, and hydraulic cranes of various sizes.
With great care, load materials and equipment without damaging the load you're moving, property, or personnel. You safely use rigging equipment to fasten loads to meet company and federal rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. You operate under strict quality, safety, environmental, and health regulations and policies. You enjoy working in a shipyard environment and find great satisfaction in your work.
QUALIFICATIONS
• 2+ years of experience in a shipyard environment
• Experience calculating loads and pouring a socket on a tow cable
• Working experience with both hydraulic and friction cranes
• Comfortable sitting for long periods of time
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• NCCCO certified preferred
• A high school diploma or equivalent, rigging certification, and Class B CDL are preferred, but not required.
