Overview:
The Antibiotic Resistant Coordinator will coordinate, implement, and promote antibiotic stewardship, resistance, and antibiotic utilization activities through collaboration with health care facilities and department of health partners utilizing National Healthcare Safety Network surveillance and electronic laboratory reporting resources. Duties will include but are not limited to:
• Promote and provide antimicrobial stewardship resources to health care providers and the public.
• Hold outreach meetings with facilities, hospital associations, health care coalitions and infection control networks to collaborate and promote AU/AR surveillance activities.
• Host and lead antimicrobial stewardship subcommittee meetings and associated activities.
• Conduct AU/AR evaluations, reports and dashboards.
• Assist with outbreak response and containment of HAI/AR pathogens to include facility outreach, coordination of response activities, write up of final reports, and providing updates to HAI Prevention Program and BOE leadership per CDC and DOH protocol.
• Assist with CDC grant progress reports and renewal proposals
• Collaborate with Bureau of Public Health Laboratories’ (BPHL) staff on activities such as working with isolates received for confirmatory testing and response to unusual isolates or identified clusters, and to provide updates on concerns and burdens that arise from testing.
• Collaborate by sharing lab resources, case data, and assessing HAI/AR prevention efforts with state and local laboratories and regional antibiotic resistant (AR) laboratories to ensure reliable, accurate, and timely laboratory testing and reporting (with focus on CRE) from health care facilities to the HAI/AR P revention Program .
• Provide HAI Prevention P rogram support and collaboration.
Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, or equivalent degree in a health-related field .
Experience in the areas of Antibiotic Resistance and Infection Control is preferred.
Three years of experience in each of the following areas:
• Public health or health care performing drug resistance activities.
• Epidemiology and health care - associated infections.
• Infection prevention and control principles using nationally recognized guidelines.
• Working with the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) system.
• Utilizing data analysis software such as Statistical Analysis Systems (SAS), Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), Access, and Structured Query Language (SQL)
