Surgical Services Coordinator - Ophthalmology
Coordinate the clinical encounters of patients, including clinical appointments, authorizations and surgery scheduling. Will serve as primary administrative contact for patients, facilitating patient needs with care team (e.g. Provider, Resident, Nurse, Mid-Level). Ensures optimized clinic schedule for providers, including template management, guidelines and working with Medical Assistants to ensure patients are scheduled appropriately. Obtains all authorizations. Provides excellent customer service by responding to telephone calls and inquiries in a timely fashion, using active listening and kind, informed responses. Backs up front desk. Engages positively with other Practice Plan groups to deliver world-class service to the patient and to internal customers.
Educational Requirements: AA degree in business or equivalent in experience, medical terminology and knowledge of various computer applications (i.e., MS Office products—MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and database programs). Knowledge of clinical systems, such as EPIC a plus. Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
Experience Requirements: Minimum 4 years in a clinical setting. Knowledge of general business practices. Excellent patient care and customer service experience.
Skill Requirements: Ability to discreetly manage large amounts of confidential and/or sensitive information. Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to perform multiple tasks under pressure and meet deadlines. Strong computer skills. Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred. * Requirements reflect the minimum level necessary to be eligible for this position. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
