Department Profile
The Pharmacy Department provides services to patients cared for at Tampa General Hospital and Tampa General Medical Group. Services provided include clinical and distributive services to in-house patients, outpatient and specialty prescriptions, infusion centers, and ambulatory clinical services. The department is composed of approximately 300 team members, including pharmacists, technicians, and support staff. Pharmacy team members have backgrounds that represent a diverse mix of experiences, training, and certifications in multiple areas of pharmacy. The Department of Pharmacy offers accredited residency training programs, is affiliated with pharmacy schools in the State of Florida, and technical training programs within the Tampa Bay area.
Job Summary
Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, responsible for accurate and efficient practice of pharmacy, including general clinical pharmacy services to patients, nurses, and medical staff. Participates in Pharmacotherapy Consult service, staff development and education, and targeted drug programs. Assesses the age-specific needs of patients served while monitoring patient medication use and processing medication orders. Able to perform all of the duties of a registered Pharmacist. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital.
Primary responsibilities will be on evening shifts.  Additionally, will be a part of the overnight coverage pool of pharmacists and will cover overnight shifts when needed (e.g., covering for vacations, leave, etc).  Shifts may vary based on departmental needs. Will cover adult ICUs as well as medical and surgical wards.  Unit-based services include providing all services to patients in assigned units (e.g., order verification, consults, med reconciliation, etc).  Overnights will also include technician oversight in compounding areas (e.g., IV room, satellites, etc)
• B.S. degree in Pharmacy with residency, or Pharm D degree from accredited College of Pharmacy.
• Pharmacy Practice Residency or equivalent training/experience.
• Current licensure as a Registered Pharmacist in the state of Florida.
• One year prior experience in a hospital or related experience with clinical pharmacy.
