Director of Nursing
REGISTERED NURSE

Primary Purpose : The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible to and works with the Administration and management team. This person manages the work efforts of the Nursing Services Department and confers and coordinates with the Administrator, Food Service Manager, Social Worker, Manager of Environmental Services and Program Director relative to resident care needs.
Responsibilities
• Controls the nursing budget - revenues and expenses.
• Sets objectives, short and long-term goals for the nursing department
• Able to clearly delegate/communicate work responsibilities and expectations to the nursing leadership/staff.
• Together with the nursing leadership, directs, manages, and evaluates all nursing personnel.
• Oversees nursing schedules, established by the nurse managers, to assure it meets resident needs, regulatory and budgetary standards.
• Works with the nursing leadership to ensure that each nurse on staff is properly oriented, trained and abides by the standards for care established Hawaii state and federal laws.
• Collaborates with physicians, consultants, community agencies, and institutions to improve the quality of services and to resolve identified problems.
• Manages relationships and clinical with nursing and the related educational organizations.
Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required. Master's degree preferred. Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with the state of Hawaii. Must have valid CPR and First aid certification
• Must have at least three years of supervisory or administrative experience and have training and/or experience in rehabilitative, geriatric or long-term care nursing concepts
