The role you’ll contribute:
The Venous Access RN is a registered professional nurse validated as a Vascular Access Specialist, who is responsible for providing and supervising direct and indirect total vascular access care to all age groups as identified in the direct care responsibilities. Utilizes the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating), in achieving the goals of the Venous Access Services department.  Communicates with Department Supervisor, Clinical Specialist or Educator as needed to enhance excellence in the delivery of patient care.  Adheres to the Florida Hospital Corporate Compliance Plan and all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.

• Performs proper documentation for all procedures and assessments in the patient electronic medical record.  Performs venous access related procedures within the scope of practice of the RN licensure.
• Obtains patient assessment, evaluating diagnosis, previous medical history, existing infusion related complications, and ordered therapy as relates to current venous access consult.
• Identifies individualized plan of care based on patients’ needs related to both infusion therapy and the venous access consult and intervenes appropriately.  Evaluates patients’ developmental level, identifies increased physical/emotional dependency needs and evaluates availability of support system consistent with assessment.
• Participates in practice changes as a result of performance improvement activities.  Demonstrates accurate documentation and monitoring of activities as needed.
• Demonstrates collaboration and teamwork in managing patient flow-i.e. promotes timely patient placement by following hospital policy for patient admission, discharge and transfer.
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
• Minimum qualifications :
• Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
• Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Peripheral Intravenous Access, PICC, Port Access Validation
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse / Nurse Practitioner in Florida or licensure from another state with verification of application and eligibility for Florida licensure by endorsement.
• Preferred qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing
• Experience in a specialty area(s)
• ACLS, PALS, NRP
• VA-BC Certification
