JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, the Regional Quality Manager specializes in organizing and monitoring quality systems and functions within facilities; offer training and suggestions to improve overall quality performance for Airgas South and Southeast Regions, while complying with all regulatory agencies and requirements including, but not limited to OSHA, FDA, DOT, ISO and Airgas regulations, policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Safety and Regulatory Compliance
Demonstrates and ensures staff alignment with Airgas Safety Pledge and 12 Live Saving Rules.
Exemplifies, promotes and develops safe work behaviors. Provides direct coaching to improve associates safety behaviors resulting in an improved safety culture.
Ensures all applicable regulatory (OSHA, FDA, DOT, EPA) requirements are met and applicable training and recordkeeping is performed to meet departmental and location deadlines.
Ensures compliance with all Specialty, Medical and Food Gas Standard Operating Procedures and ISO requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Overall areas of responsibility include performing routine and pre-audits of facility Quality Management Systems;
Troubleshoots equipment issues at all facilities and performs repairs to equipment as knowledge, skills and abilities allow;
Supports the field with SOP interpretations for specialty, industrial, medical and food grade gases, production, filling and analytic capabilities and requirements;
Manages all customer complaints (all grades), quality surveys and non-conformance matters identified during audits;
Pulls data and provides monthly plant performance summaries.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
May assist with Industrial and/or Medical Audits
Other duties and projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Demonstrated ability as a highly motivated individual who performs exceptionally well in a leadership capacity.

Must be able to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds.
Analytic ability demonstrated by working knowledge of gas chromatography using FID, TCD, PID detectors, nondispersive infrared and component-specific analyzers for analysis of gaseous samples.
Thorough knowledge of manometric and gravimetric gas blending procedures, and working knowledge of laws of Partial Pressure.
Working knowledge of planning and blending mixtures containing fuel gases and oxidizers as well as other non-compatible gases.
Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and FDA regulations as they apply to the compressed gas industry.
Ability to read and comprehend safety data sheets.
Ability to follow instructions and procedures.
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors’ Degree from an accredited college/university in chemistry or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in Quality Assurance functions.
Minimum 3 years’ experience with Auditing and ISO 9000 quality systems.
Industry operational experience preferred.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
Experience with SAP and/or a production planning module preferred.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Frequent (60% - 80%)
COMMUNICATION and/or CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS:
Strong verbal and written communication skills, self-starter, self-motivated, sense of urgency, personable, extroverted personality, well organized, ability to achieve goals, ability to focus and pay attention to detail including follow-up.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write routine business reports and business correspondence in English.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees and/or customers.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and safety data sheets using the
English language.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.
