This position will be open to Internal TECO team members for a minimum of 7 days from the date posted.
This position pays a minimum salary of $127,200.00. It may be increased based on skills, experience and education of the successful candidate.
Concept: The Manager, Mechanical System Reliability directs the development of a standardized fleet Maintenance Strategy for all mechanical system assets (rotating equipment, heat exchangers, material transfer/conveying/piping, cooling systems, etc.) and leads the following Asset Management Programs: Predictive Maintenance, Unit Heat Rate/Efficiency, Lubrication, Work Planning and Scheduling, Work Order Standards (including Asset Hierarchy) and Outage Management.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Facilitate a collaborative reliability management process for mechanical systems which involves the development, implementation and execution of mechanical system Asset Criticality, failure mechanism Monitoring Plans, Health Indicators/Policy, Asset Risk and Recommendation Management. (35%)
• Facilitate the development and implementation of the Work Planning and Scheduling, Work Order Standards (including Asset Hierarchy) and related Programs such as Outage Management. (15%)
• Lead the Predictive Monitoring (PdM) Program for Tampa Electric involving coordinating use of PdM technologies such as thermography, vibration, acoustic and other technologies supporting all Asset Classes. (10%)
• Lead the Unit Heat Rate and Efficiency Program for Tampa Electric involving development and maintenance of plant thermodynamic models and the identification, evaluation and implementation of heat rate and efficiency projects. (10%)
• Ensure the documentation and management of mechanical system data including management of design documents, computer models, equipment inventories, equipment monitoring, inspection and maintenance data and other data associated with mechanical system Maintenance Strategy. (10%)
• Facilitate root cause analysis, track and report on reliability metrics for generation, support management of change including the evaluation of changes to mechanical systems, benchmarking and the track functional performance and condition of mechanical systems. (10%)
• Facilitates the development and management of Recommendations for improvement of mechanical asset Maintenance Strategy, e.g. capital projects, outages, operational limitations, monitoring and analysis of asset condition (non-destructive and other inspection and sampling) (10%)
SUPERVISION
Direct Supervision: Direct supervisory responsibility for the Mechanical Reliability team.
Indirect Supervision: Consultants, project, and reliability teams
RELATIONSHIPS
Key Internal: ES and ED team members including Vice Presidents, directors, managers, engineers, technicians
Key External: Regulators, Consultants, Contractors, Industry Associations, Vendors
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited or mutually recognized program
Licenses/Certifications
Preferred: Mechanical or mechanical related engineering degree, Florida Professional Engineer’s License
Experience
Related Experience
Required: Minimum of 6 years of work experience in mechanical system design, implementation, operation, and maintenance.
Preferred: Minimum of 5 years of work experience with combustion and steam turbine operation and maintenance
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)
Required: Working knowledge of mechanical system design, operation and maintenance.  This position requires a strong understanding of power generation principals, work practices and associated materials.  In addition, this position requires the ability to organize, lead and resolve technical and process problems. The ability to effectively lead and motivate individuals to meet organization goals and personal development needs is required.  Good project management skills, time management skills and communication skills are required.
Preferred: Working knowledge of reliability centered maintenance practices, continuous improvement practices, thermodynamic modeling, tracking generating unit performance metrics
WORKING CONDITIONS
Ability to work in a powerplant and energy delivery environments for extended periods of time.  Must be able to work irregular hours, overtime, and possible holidays.
