Job applications for current students will not be considered if submitted through the external career center.Position DetailsInformation Technology and Security at The University of Tampa has an opening for an Academic Solutions Support Specialist. Under the direction of the Director of Academic Solutions, the Academic Solutions Support Specialist will be responsible primarily for providing instruction, coaching, and customized support to faculty across all disciplines in the use and optimization of academic technologies that promote student digital literacy, engagement, learning, and success. While one major aspect of the position's duties involves coordination & delivery of training on the Blackboard learning management system (LMS), duties also include delivery of workshops and other faculty digital literacy opportunities that provide strategies and direction for incorporation of current technology tools that facilitate teaching and learning.Duties and Responsibilities• Serve as a ‘subject matter expert’ in consulting with faculty in the evaluation, selection, use, optimization and incorporation of academic technology solutions and tools that facilitate teaching and learning, as well as promote student engagement and success• Plan, develop curriculum, and deliver instruction for faculty in the use of enterprise academic technology systems• Provide technical assistance to both faculty and students related to the LMS as needed• Analyze institutional needs related to digital literacy, academic tools and technology solutions, as well as increasing student engagement through the use of academic technologies, and identify future professional development options for students and faculty based on, but not limited to, interactions with faculty, relevant faculty committees, solicited feedback, and the tracking of other relevant data• Collaboratively review and identify cases where there may be a deficit in incorporation of current academic technology solutions or tools within course design, delivery, or active instruction and provide recommendations to faculty• Actively seek to build productive relationships within faculty community to promote and seek adoption and productive use of academic technology solutions funded by the Provost’s Office and selected as UT enterprise teaching and learning solutions• Collaborate productively with Academic Solutions, Teaching & Learning, and UT Online, which requires staying abreast of new and emerging technologies and maintaining knowledge of current practices and trends• Develop and maintain documentation for supported academic technology (e.g., Knowledge Base articles, intranet websites)• Provides and promotes excellent customer services through collaborations, courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagements• Provide leadership for project management for short and long-term academic technology-related initiatives (e.g., application evaluations, pilots, learning communities, committee participation, etc.)• Assist with other processes and projects as required, such as working with the Academic Solutions Accessibility Specialist and accreditation committees to ensure that use of technologies aligns with standards and requirements• Support Information Technology and Security in ISO 27001 related practices to ensure the security and protection of university assets and data• Adhere to policies and procedures as defined by information technology and security management and leadership• Maintain a strong collaborative relationship with Information Technology and Security departments, Staff, Faculty, Students, and Software VendorsKnowledge and Skills• Demonstrate proficiency in the use of learning management systems and other academic technologies commonly used to support teaching and learning• Demonstrated ability to research and incorporate emerging academic technologies into instruction• Maintain current awareness of issues and trends relevant to the position, including the University's academic mission• Use communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively in a collaborative work environment• Integrate the use of relevant current technologies and tools into everyday practice and demonstrate their value to others• Work collaboratively and effectively with diverse groups, including students, faculty, and staff• Take initiative in recognizing, analyzing, and constructively solving problems and overcoming barriers• Communicate and collaborate effectively across ITS to build partnerships that facilitate progress and improvements• Contribute actively and constructively to help Academic Solutions achieve its goals• Adapt to new challenges, changing priorities, situations, and demands• Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures and backgroundsQualifications• Bachelor’s degree (earned or in progress) with at least two to four years of directly related work experience• Experience working with learning management system software in the context of higher education• Experience in a higher education institution• Experience working in project teams• Knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn The University of Tampa software programs such as Workday, Solar Winds Service Desk, Zoom, Blackboard, Office365 and etc.• Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practicesPreferred• Higher Education experience teaching courses or delivering faculty/staff training (traditional, hybrid, and/or online), integrating academic solutions or tools, facilitating digital literacy and student success learning and using technology in the classroom• Active participation in EDUCAUSE and other institutes that provide members with knowledge and research about academic solutions that facilitate digital literacy and student engagement• Certifications and/or completion of courses in vendor academic solutions that demonstrate knowledge and/or proficiency (Learning Management Systems, Student Success Systems, Video production, et al)Required AttachmentsPlease be sure to
