What you’ll be doing...
The Data Center Operations Principal Engineer is responsible for service and support of the critical facilities infrastructure supporting the IT Data Centers (24x7/365). The Principal Engineer will report into the local Data Center Senior Manager. The areas in which the Principal Engineer will provide critical system support include but are not limited to uninterruptible power supplies, large battery systems, Engine Generators and Generator controls, medium voltage switchgear (23,000 volts to 480 volts), Switchgear Station Batteries, Motor Control Centers, Building Management Systems, Power Quality Monitoring, Computer room Power distribution Units, Transformers, Fire systems, Circuit Breakers, HVAC, Energy Management, and all related Electrical Systems.
Responsibilities include the following:
• UPS maintenance, repair, and service.
• Certification in UPS Systems (MGE, Eaton, Piller).
• Evaluate maintenance activities performed by vendors.
• Switchgear maintenance.
• Secondary Injection Testing of Circuit breakers.
• Transformer maintenance.
• Comprehensive battery testing and evaluation.
• Certified Infrared Thermography to critical Infrastructure.
• Develop and implement functional testing, maintenance and calibration procedures for critical support systems.
• Develop MOPs required for various maintenance activities.
• Develop SOW documents for critical equipment.
• Perform power quality analysis.
• Factory witness test to ensure equipment meets specifications and performance requirements.
• Perform On-Site equipment commissioning and testing for critical support equipment.
• Work with engineering and consultant groups to ensure proper installation and functionality of critical systems and equipment.
• Develop and deliver site specific training for on-site maintenance procedures and equipment operation.
• Hold detailed safety meetings and discuss back out plans with all personnel involved with related work to be performed.
• Provide support to IT Data Centers.

What we’re looking for...
You’ll need to have:
• Bachelor’s degree or 6 or more years of work experience.
• Six or more years of relevant work experience.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
• A defined set of skills that include Electrical, HVAC, Generator controls, Building Management, and UPS Systems.
• Four or more years of UPS Service, Maintenance, and Repair experience.
• Four or more years of Infrared Thermography experience.
• A Bachelor’s degree.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule as needed.
• Experience as a Technical Lead in an Operations environment.
• Factory Training from UPS manufactures.
• Experience with signingagreements with the UPS manufacture for proprietary software.
• Certified Level III Infrared Thermographer.
• Licensed Electrician.
• Skills to test Circuit Breakers that range from 5KV to 480 volts.
• Experience performing Battery capacity testing.
• Experience performing battery inspections.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills.
• Experience managing contractors and vendors.
