Manager (CaseWare) owns the product within the business, has a balanced view across all users of the product, gives direction to Product Owner or Business Analyst to work with Scrum team, possess knowledge of core business and business operations, communicates both business and technical requirements to team members, assists in defining the level of effort needed for initiatives, align priorities in collaboration with all stakeholders, develop and maintain roadmap, investigate and determine long term strategy for products, is the “Go To” person in firm for issues and questions. Ability to understand of how products can be connected and aligned within the firm’s global goals.
The Product Manager will work with the National Audit Technology Sr Director to create the product vision in conjunction with the appropriate stakeholders to ensure documentation of the roadmap which includes updates, enhancements and firmwide projects to accurately set priorities and refine the backlog for the technology team when it comes to business requests.
The percent of time allocation for management, business analysis, testing and support varies by person and depends upon specific project assignments and individual experience. This variation in primary responsibilities will be reflected in performance goals for each individual.
Product Manager – includes the following:
• Develop product vision including upgrades, enhancements, roadmap, and project alignment/sequencing
• Assist with vendor relationship management for enhancements, support tickets, open projects/SOW
• Review contract and professional services for CaseWare to ensure proper execution of work
• Effectively communicate between business and technology to provide transparency to process
• “Go To” person in the firm for questions/support issues with the Tool
• Relationship management with CaseWare for new features and product solutions
• Owns CaseWare Product Roadmap for all Development (Content and IT)
• Manages the annual production cycles
• High level knowledge how products are used in the firm
• System – includes the following:
• Work with CaseWare to identify gaps within current environment and business process to find implementation fixes
• Review new product enhancements and how they impact tool
• Knowledge of forms development process and workflows to identify best practices to be implemented across all areas affected.
• Document business process for knowledge of system impacts
• High level strategic vision of the system including innovation and maintenance while working in collaboration with Technology team
• Understand all system integrations and impact to each line of business
• Support – includes the following:
• Assess the need for change and develop solutions to solve business problems
• Issue identification and follow up with the engagement teams and other escalations as necessary
• Meets with key stakeholders within Audit Tax, and Innovation on CaseWare for market analysis on key features that are needed by teams
• Act as a mentor and coach for NATO Product Owner staff:
• Complete Career Advisor duties including regular feedback, coaching, goal setting and training with assigned advisees
• Actively share knowledge and provide stretch assignments to grow overall expertise within the NATO team
• Lead Product team to create a collaborative environment of business and technology
• Build and leverage internal and external networks
• Actively contributing to the development and improvement of NATO team processes
• Additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in business or technology required
• Advanced degree or leadership certificates encouraged
TECHNICAL/SOFT SKILLS
• Required qualifications
• Demonstrates and adapts strong communication skills for differing audiences and situations
• Genuine interest and strong aptitude for understanding and use of technology
• Strong experience in MS Office suite
• Ability to assess, enhance and document business processes
• Knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC) processes and best practices including software distribution
Preferred qualifications
• Business analysis training and experience
• Previous Product Manager Experience
EXPERIENCE
• Minimum of 10+ years relevant work experience required
• Prefer public accounting experience with a mid to large size firm(s) or other professional services experience
• Prefer prior management experience
LEADERSHIP SKILLS
• Plan and business lead for components of multiple, complex projects
• Ability to lead and mentor a team including delegation, review, and feedback
• Strong interpersonal skills plus a pro-active approach to finding solutions to issues and managing priorities
• Self-motivated approach to follow up on job assignments and focus area duties
• Ability to work and lead efficiently with remote team members
