Position Highlights: A Nursing Assistant Trainee is a student employed by the Cancer Center while enrolled in a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) program immediately upon hire. Once a CNA program is successfully completed, the Nursing Assistant Trainee will attend oncology specific programs and complete clinical hours on inpatient units while waiting to take the certification exam. The certification exam must be completed within 3 months from hire date. After successful completion of the certification exam, the Nursing Assistant Trainee will move into an Oncology Technician position. # Clinical tasks will be completed under the direction of a registered nurse and include: # Assist with activities of daily living and provide basic nursing care to Oncology population. Assist in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. Adheres to rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. # # The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will the following: Some customer service or related experience Experience in a healthcare setting BLS Certification # Responsibilities: Provides care to oncology patients based on the identification of the patient#s age, physical, psychosocial, educational and safety needs Assists in the general care of the patient through collaboration and teamwork Observes and reinforces patient care and education May assist in the coordination of the patient flow Credentials and Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED CNA certificate achieved within 90 days from date of hire BLS Certification
