The Sr Manager Alternative Fuel Systems leads the development of alternative fueling systems through the design, installation, and operation of innovative natural gas customer solutions. Leads PGS’s offerings of Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) and other energy options and is responsible for managing all planning and development activities to meet the growing demand of cleaner energy solutions for Peoples Gas. This position is a leading liaison with large commercial and industrial customers and manages all aspects of the deal-making process, including analysis, due diligence and negotiations.  Coordinates alternative energy solutions with the expansion of the PGS natural gas system to meet short and long-term system requirements and expansion into new service territory.  Requires a high degree of collaboration with the PGS Business Development department, as well as each of the 14 division offices, and with Engineering, Operations, Safety, Analytics, Regulatory, Legal and Management. Works in supporting activities related to any applicable regulatory filings in support of alternative fuel system development with the Florida Public Service Commission.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Responsible for the business segment development and operations for PGS’s alternative fuel system businesses.  This includes origination, negotiation and execution of contracts for alternative fuel customer solutions, as well as strategy development, regulatory filings and market assessments.  Deliverables will include executable opportunities to meet business objectives and will be aligned with 5-year and 10-year plans, natural gas supply/demand dynamics, environmental scans, SWOT analyses, and system resource requirements
• Responsible for the negotiation of agreements for RNG infrastructure investments, including proactive initiation and execution of management reviews and approvals of business and strategic rationale and strategies. RNG investments will be coordinated with PGS system expansion strategies.  Manage customers to meet current and future natural gas energy needs and provide services to potential customers, including but not limited to sales and marketing, natural gas consulting project costing, project feasibility and contract negotiations
• Provides a strong focus on developing relationships with alternative fuel customers and serves as a primary point of contact for corporate industrial customer representatives. Manage business development of company and customer opportunities and strategic partnerships.  Develops a commercial network in Florida and the southeast US to leverage relationships for future business opportunities.  Participate in applicable industry conferences and events, and customer meetings
• Leverage PGS main extensions and system expansions in support of RNG development for preservation and the addition of customers; leads contract origination of large projects pertaining to incremental industrial and wholesale load and load retention as it pertains to alternate fuel and bypass.  Coordinates state regulatory efforts pertaining to the approval of special contracts
• Manage the implementation and administration of personnel management programs, including staffing, succession planning, performance management, and training and development. Provide supervision, direction, training and leadership including preparing and administering performance evaluations, and authorizing and monitoring any compensated time of direct reports. Ensure effective integration of people, processes and technology to provide quality and effective customer service and client satisfaction with services
• Maintain a good understanding of the energy industry through keeping abreast of alternative fuel market dynamics, interstate pipeline market conditions, rates, and tariff requirements.  Initiate regulatory filings in support of business developments for RNG, in coordination with PGS Regulatory. Help lead the Company’s decarbonization and sustainability practice in areas including, but not limited to: Sustainability planning and program development, carbon management and greenhouse gas reduction strategies, hydrogen implementation, performance indicator and metrics development, stakeholder engagement, technical advisory, and project management.
• Identify and secure viable expansion opportunities through negotiating contracts with clients and presenting proposals to leadership for natural gas development throughout Florida, including expansion of currently served areas and outreach to unserved areas.
• Develop and maintain relationships with natural gas interstate and intrastate pipeline companies, as well as other gas competitors such as LDCs and muni/co-op systems.  Evaluates opportunities for M&A activities for natural gas assets and systems.

EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Required: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in the field of business, marketing, engineering, economics, finance, science, math or other technical field.
Preferred : An MBA or Master’s degree is preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Required : A minimum of ten (10) years related experience in commercial, financial or business
planning, regulatory or engineering.  Experience must include a minimum of five (5) years performing similar duties and responsibilities of this role. Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
Preferred: Energy industry related experience in commercial, operations, financial or business planning in a regulated utility environment.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES (KSA)
Required: Knowledge of alternative fuels, including services and strategies, with competitive market understanding.  Knowledge of developing natural gas service and transportation agreements and tariffs.  Knowledge of natural gas transportation industry protocols, business practices, and regulatory constructs.  Excellent analytic, oral, written, interpersonal and negotiating skills. Knowledge of the interrelationship of commodity prices and impacts on company and customer business. Knowledge and applicability of natural gas transportation services offered by the Company.
Preferred : Direct knowledge and experience with Florida based alternative fuel market, natural gas industrial, wholesale, and electric markets and direct knowledge of Florida Public Service Commission regulatory processes.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Requires working extended hours and weekends; medium to high stress work environment; and frequent overnight travel is required.
