ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
USF Information Technology (USF IT) provides technology services and support for the University of South Florida. The IT team, led by the Vice President and CIO, provides the following services: Administrative Services, Client Support, Communication Services, Teaching and Learning, Analytics and Reporting, Mobile and Web Services, Consulting Services, Cybersecurity Service and Research Technologies.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Cloud Administrator is responsible for deploying, configuring, and managing our public and private clouds, specifically IaaS and PaaS environments. The individual also oversees and maintains the storage, backups, and monitoring requirements of the multiuser computing environment.
The Cloud Administrator will have to configure, implement and manage the systems that comprise the underlying cloud platform. The professional assists in setting up public or private cloud systems executing the build of prescribed architectures and deploying them in an automated fashion. The administrator will also be responsible for continued future expansion of multi-cloud opportunities that best fits USF strategic direction.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Deploys and manages IaaS cloud environments in accordance with USF security guidelines and subscription taxonomy policies, while utilizing automation deployment templates. As well as deploying and managing servers in USF's VMware vCenter and vSphere environment as needed.
Collaborates with cloud engineers to identify and implement customer/solution requests to provide the most optimal cloud-based solutions that takes into consideration cost, security requirements, operating system, storage, backups, and system monitoring.
Responds to break/fix issues in a professional and timely manner. Troubleshooting and debugging IaaS cloud services as needed in accordance with best practices.
Performs OS, storage, and backup upgrades or changes throughout the system life-cycle. Collaborating with application owners to ensuring optimal performance levels are maintained.
Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS or other field involving software and analytical training and two years of IT related work experience; or a Bachelor's degree with no specific required field and three years of  IT related work experience, OR a combination of  six years of IT related work experience and validated  training.  Preparation for a relevant IT certification is considered to be related training.
PREFERRED:
Understand the major components of the Linux operating system with technical proficiency to work on the Linux command line and a basic understanding of administration related topics such as user/group management, file permissions, processes, programs and how to create/run simple shell scripts.
3-5 years experience as an enterprise level systems administrator
AZ-900 Microsoft Azure Fundamentals certification
