Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope (OBE), Tampa FL, is seeking a safety conscious, energetic, self-motivated individual to be a Transportation Manager .
JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
As the Transportation Manager, you will lead a team of drivers, manage a fleet of vehicles, and coordinate the safe delivery of finished glass and metal products to customers in Florida. You are responsible for overseeing and managing all transportation matters for Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope (OBE), Tampa. This includes regulatory DOT compliance, monitoring transportation costs, shipping and delivery of finished products via our fleet or 3rd party carriers, management of transportation relationships and providing continuous improvement in shipping efficiencies.
Manage a team of drivers and fleet of vehicles for safe, professional and economical delivery of finished products.
Responsible for planning the daily delivery of glass and metal to customer locations across Florida.
Coordinate directly with customers to schedule jobsite deliveries.
Ensure drivers are responding to daily customer service requirements.
Assist in the training and completion of duties of the shipping crew; to ensure finished products are loaded onto our trucks correctly thus supporting the safe transit of glass and metal.
Manage the companys leased vehicles and coordinate with truck leasing agency on scheduled maintenance, vehicle mechanical breakdowns, and repairs.
Review and research with new and existing transportation vendors; programs to reduce, replace and improve upon transportation costs
Uphold and enforce company policy and programs, state, federal and DOT regulations.
Utilize Smart Drive and XRS software to help coach, teach and mentor our drivers on safe and efficient operation of our fleet.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintaining driver qualification files.
Hold monthly driver meetings.
Perform as a leader part of a team to meet and/or exceed budgeted goals.
Conduct hiring, performance counseling, and execute disciplinary actions.
Ensure drivers hours are within DOT regulations.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum two year degree or equivalent in experience, training or education.
Minimum 5 years experience in related field or position preferably with experience in transportation software systems.
Strong cross-functional leadership skills with analytical and problem-solving ability.
Ability to plan and achieve short and long-term goals.
Strong communication skills and fluent with computers.
Excellent customer service skills.
Previous fleet/shipping experience
