What you’ll be doing...
You will be a part of the Global Network & Technology organization focusing on the strategic technology evolution across our organization specifically with onboarding and orchestration of virtualized network functions. As part of this team you will work on the overall deployment, designing, testing and implementing feature roadmaps for our orchestration and assurance solutions. As a principal engineer you’ll have a positive impact on our organization, and change the way that our customers live, work, and play.
As part of the Verizon Network Orchestration & Engineering team you will be responsible from working closely with the Maintenance Engineering, VCP, Orchestration (VSOP), IT and various E2E systems teams to test the E2E systems through the dev, ME, FOA integration process for various vRAN, 5GC Network functions in support of Verizon’s virtualization program across Verizon’s Network. You will be:
• Orchestrating activities for new software being deployed within the Wireless lab environment, including automation of procedures and testing.
• Assisting with developing automated deployment and testing procedures in the lab and FOA (First Office Application) environments.
• Deploying, redeploying, and upgrading applications as needed for lab projects on a daily basis.
• Running regression and feature testing and analyzing and reporting results to engineers and management.
• Working with resident engineers, and VZ teams and Verizon teams on developing test scripts and writing procedures.
• Participating in meetings, program updates, and presentations to senior leaders (Director and VP level).
• Working with various VNOE, ME, IT, and Application and Planning teams to identify opportunities to automate manual tasks in E2E systems testing and to work with them to develop the solutions.
• Analyzing the business needs to continuously enhance Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery tool chain with a goal of creating a stable repeatable E2E testing for vRAN Network functions E2E service deployments and Life Cycle Management.
In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.
What we’re looking for...
You'll need to have:
• Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
• Six or more years of related work experience.
• Experience with Operational aspects of various Cloud platforms.
• Knowledge of Openstack platforms, firewall management and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Kubernetes.
• Two or more years of Python programming experience.
• Two or more years or Ansible playbooks development experience.
• Knowledge of Linux, Unix, Jenkins, Git, Gitlab, SOAP/REST.
• Direct experience with application deployment strategies (i.e. Helm).
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
• Master’s degree.
• Experience with OpenStack CLI commands and administration.
• Direct experience with Ansible Tower.
• Experience with API development based on JSON, XML.
• Demonstrated analytical skills, written and verbal communications skills with the demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
• Experience with Software Defined Networking principals or system.
• Development or operational experience on Telecom Service Assurance platforms.
• Knowledge of TOSCA and YAML based file formats.
• Understanding of 3GPP standards for 4G and 5G solutions.
• Knowledge of NFV and SDN products, technologies, architectures, and vendors.
• Experience onboarding VNFs on to NFV Orchestrators.
• Knowledge of wireless network – LTE, IMS, MPN.
