ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The Marshall Student Center provides facilities and event services for USF students, departments, faculty, and visitors.  The MSC is the hub for campus life and programs and houses offices including Student Government, Leadership and Civic Engagement, Center for Student Involvement, and Fraternity and Sorority life.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Event Logistics Coordinator will be responsible for the oversight of the day to day events in the Marshall Student Center. This will include but not limited to event logistics and limited building operations. The Event Logistics Coordinator will directly supervise the Information Desk, Student Building Managers, Bull Market Staff, and supervision of the two Event Logistics Graduate Assistant. The Event Logistics Coordinator will oversee the logistics of the academic departments, student groups and organizations, and Off Campus Clients events in the MSC. The Event Logistics Coordinator will work closely with the Assistant Director of Event Logistics and Student Development to ensure quality training and development of the student employees. This position will be responsible for assessing the quality of service offered to all of the MSC events clients. This position requires non-traditional hours as well as holidays, nights and weekends.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees the daytime logistics of the academic departments, student groups/organizations, and off-campus client meetings and events in the MSC. Solves day of event logistic issues that may occur with our MSC clients under the university and building policies and procedures. Creates a day of event plan to include event set-ups and break downs, student staffing numbers and plans, and make sure the client's expectations are met. Works collaboratively with MSC Event Planning and Conference Services regarding requirements and expectations of the MSC clients. Collaborates with the MSC Operations department to ensure a smooth transition of room's cleanliness before, during, and after events. Manages the day of coordination of all events and serve liaison to catering, facilities, security, and IT for all MSC events. Have working knowledge of ingress and egress procedures, line/crowd management, some audio visual, and room set-up experience. Responsible for assessing the quality of service offered to all of the MSC events clients. Provides excellent customer service to all MSC clients. Demonstrates knowledge of a university's student union Information Desk operations and responsibilities.
Directly supervises the Events Crew, Graduate Assistant for the Information Desk, and student programmers. Indirectly supervises all Information Desk student staff. Schedules student staff for weekly shifts and monitor student staff hours and timesheets. Assess the quality of the services provided by the Student Center Staff in order to continuously make recommendations for improvement and ensure that the staff is adhering to the mission, vision, and goals of the Marshall Student Center.
Works in partnership with the Associate Director of Operations on building opening and closing procedures, public protest and demonstration, emergency management procedures, and reporting facility problems and issues within the building. Attends weekly MSC Production Meeting, sits in on event planning meetings when needed, and serves on campus and departmental committees. This position requires non-traditional hours as well as holidays, nights and weekends when required This person will also serve as essential personnel in the event of university closures or as needed to maintain building and event operations. This position is responsible for maintaining a focus on certain signature programs within the MSC as well as working with student programmers to develop new programming initiatives each semester as resources allows.
Works closely with the Assistant Director of Event Logistics & Student Development to ensure quality training and development of the student employees. Coordinates, develops, and implements year-round student staff training, recruitment, and hiring with a focus in customer service and professionalism Creates and updates student employee handbooks, assists in planning student staff retreats, and participates in student employee appreciation and recognition week activities. Works in partnership with the Program Director to implement student programming initiatives.
Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree, with at least one year of experience in a student affairs or student personnel position; or a Master's degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, or Sports Recreation Administration. Work experience may not be substituted for the Bachelor's degree requirement for this position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Student Personnel, or Hospitality Management with 1 year experience.
