About Our Job
This is professional technical work directing the planning, design and construction of building related projects for General Services department, and at other assigned areas in cooperation with other organizations and agencies. These construction projects are for the preservation, renovation and improvements to County owned and leased facilities. Responsibilities include recommending policy, developing goals, objectives and performance measures, as well as overseeing contractors, working with engineers during the design and construction phase through the close out of projects. Administering multiple budgets and directing day to day operations on a County wide basis.
Job Description:
Create scope of work documents as directed by supervisor, interacts with customers and consultants to address questions, relieve concerns and resolve complaints to ensure that all customers are provided with prompt, courteous and high-quality service. Day to day owner interface and provide assistance to owner as directed. Act as liaison and consultant to various groups, agencies and other County departments. Monitors project schedule and adjusts as necessary. Report to supervisor any issues or variations of schedule. Strives to deliver projects on time. Ensures all permits are in place. Ensures all punch-list items are complete, lien wavers and a certificate of occupancy has been obtained. Ensures necessary project files are maintained.
Plan, organize, assign, review and evaluate the work of contractors, vendors and support staff. Work with Architects, Engineers and maintenance staff to assure appropriate construction documents are prepared to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements as well as industry and ADA standards, under the guidance of immediate supervisor. Inspects and coordinates construction with telecommunication, electrical, mechanical, security, and all other team members to deliver a turn-key project. Preparation of technical bid documents, schedules and correspondence for construction projects. Evaluates service, engineering and contractors’ proposals and performs project management functions. Seeks innovated products, methods and technology for Facilities construction and maintenance of assets. Assist in the development of project budgets and schedules.
Under direction of Construction Project Manager III assist in preparation of solicitations for Professional Services, Term Agreements and management of contracts. Preparation of contracts for legal review in preparation for BCC review. Negotiates contract scope, budget and schedule with selected consultants. Review PDR and 30/60/90% design documents and submittals with project team and owner.
Conducts daily on-site facility inspections to assess construction progress and needs. Ensures that the design consultants meet all technical and contractual requirements. Review all purchasing activities including the submittal of purchase requisitions.
About You
Minimum Qualifications:  A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in  Engineering,  Construction, Project Management or related field.  Project experience can substitute for the required degree on a year-for-year basis depending on the type of experience. A valid Driver’s License is required.
Job Competencies:  Microsoft Suites: Word, Excel, Outlook and MS Projects, eBuilder, Smartsheet.
