Job Description:
A successful Construction Crew Leader (CCL) is detail-oriented and competent in all aspects of landscape construction. Primary focus is to produce and oversee all construction work as planned, while overseeing product, schedule, crew members and customers; highly efficient, detail driven, technology driven, and systems structured mind set. The incumbent can operate a variety of machinery, tools and equipment and has a working knowledge of horticulture practices to include site and soil preparation, planting, and grading. The CCL requires minimal supervision. This position is intended for continuous development and upward growth within the company. The incumbent will also perform all other duties as assigned.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Manage the execution of landscape construction projects, planning labor and equipment requirements and time management to ensure completion of work within deadlines
• Lead construction projects with clear direction; create manageable team members and customers’ expectations, meet company timelines, and produce realistic metrics to measure results
• Create a safe environment to work in for team members and customers; be accountable for own actions and hold team members accountable for their actions
• Complete landscape improvement projects such as tree and plant installation, mulch application, topsoil application and lawn seeding under the direction of a Site Supervisor
• Drive revenue by identifying enhancement opportunities and presenting innovative ideas
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment by conducting inspections and daily cleaning
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Ability to assign and supervise the work of others, provide instruction, lead crew and inspire confidence
• In-depth knowledge of horticultural practices, including but not limited to planting, pruning, and fertilization
• Ability to transport and operate heavy machinery and equipment
• Knowledgeable of mixing, pouring, and leveling concrete
• Utilize all required PPE and follow OSHA/Safety Standards
• Ability to maintain the highest level of integrity and professionalism
• Highly energetic, self-starter, and demonstrates a positive attitude
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, both written and oral; highly skilled in organizational and time management
• Ability to understand the technical requirements to perform landscape maintenance duties as assigned
• Results and action-oriented
• Effective problem-solving skills, and ability to work and meet deadlines
Physical Requirements:
• Stand, walk, crouch, stoop and/or kneel; employee will regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. repeatedly through an entire work shift
• May be exposed to hazardous material, loud noise, and/or extreme heat/cold temperatures
Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
• 3+ years of related industry experience required; military experience may be substituted to meet position requirements
• Valid Texas Driver’s License with a clean record
