PHLEBOTOMY SUPERVISOR II Allied Health Hours: 8 AM - 4:30 PM Days - Full-time Paygrade/Wages/Salary Info: OH 2013-73 - 45068A
Job Summary Responsible for the phlebotomy and laboratory assistant functions of the laboratory, outpatient locations, and other areas as assigned. # Job Responsibilities Develops lab policies, processes and procedures, and control changes; validates according to regulatory agencies. Develops processes to handle changes. Oversees ordering and inventory control; receives, inspects, and tests incoming supplies and materials. Develops and maintains computer functionality; ensures staff#s ability to use computer systems within the context of actual work processed. Performs supplier qualification process. Develops process for management of equipment, including quality control, calibration, repairs, and preventive maintenance schedules. Develops processes for quality monitoring, internal audits, proficiency testing, handling deviations, non-conformance, and complications. Collaborates with other lab personnel to ensure correct billing, coding, and crediting. Develops and maintains competency assessments. Performs equipment and reagent qualification process. Tests new and revised computer software for acceptability. Oversees and develops processes for installation. Oversees records for laboratory testing, quality control, and results. Provides leadership, orientation, training, coaching, and mentoring to staff. Ensures staff compliance with department and organization polices, procedures, and protocols. Responds to complaints about patient care and manages through established channels. Prepares work schedules, assigns personnel, evaluates work performance, and makes recommendations for personnel actions. Processes all time cards of assigned staff. Supervises functions that may include registration, order entry, specimen procurement, specimen processing, specimen testing, answering telephones, typing/transcribing various materials, making and distributing photocopies, filing and maintaining all pathology and clinical laboratory files, and calling for maintenance and repair of equipment. Monitors and provides a monthly order error rate report. Monitors appropriate logs to make sure all draws are being performed in a timely manner. Monitors turnaround by phlebotomists and lab assistants. Ensures phlebotomy service personnel maintain a positive client/patient-focused attitude. Establishes routines and workflow patterns, performance standards, and staffing needs. Qualifications Associate#s degree or higher in science related field required upon hire A minimum of 2 years# relevant experience required PBT - Certified Phlebotomy Technician through the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) required upon hire Skills and Attributes Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment. Works under minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Ability to meet requirements for #High Complexity Testing Personnel# per the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA).
