Full Job Description POSITION TITLE: MARKETING DIRECTOR
THE ORGANIZATION: BLUEGRASS MUSIC HALL OF FAME & MUSEUM www.bluegrasshall.org
LOCATION: OWENSBORO, KY
Owensboro, Kentucky is the Bluegrass Music Capital of the World, and the Bluegrass Music Hall of
Fame & Museum is the premiere destination for the music. Established in 1991, the Hall of Fame launched a new phase in late 2018 moving into a world-class, state-of-the-art building on the downtown riverfront in Owensboro attracting visitors from around the country and from across the globe who travel to the Hall of Fame to experience bluegrass music.
The Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum also produces one the region’s largest annual outdoor music festivals, ROMP, attracting over 25,000 people annually. In addition to live music and exhibits, the Hall of Fame publishes Bluegrass Unlimited magazine, and offers a range of educational programs including group music lessons, music camps, and Bluegrass in the
Schools (BITS), where thousands of students are exposed to the music, instruments, and the heritage of bluegrass music. Finally, the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum produces a weekly television show for RFD-TV titled My Bluegrass Story spotlighting the most prominent artists in bluegrass music.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Marketing Director will play a key leadership role with one of the most important entities in Owensboro, Kentucky. The successful candidate is a polished and friendly professional with a proven track record in marketing with an organization known for innovation and excellence. The ideal candidate must possess a creative drive to successfully impact the public image of the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum and ROMP Festival, creating interest in the many programs and ticketed events produced by the organization to grow revenue.
The ideal candidate is detail oriented with the ability to function at a high level within an ever-changing environment possessing an ownership mindset with an emphasis on motivation and teamwork. The
Marketing Director is responsible for all aspects of marketing, public relations, and ticket sales for The
Hall of Fame and ROMP Festival.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Social Media
• Create and post all content for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.
• Design & manage all social media advertisements
• Leverage the advertising budget to best reach target audiences
• *Research and analyze target demographics
• *Use Google Analytics to reach target audiences
• Design and upload content to the ROMP Festival mobile app and ensure it is updated on the App Store
Website Maintenance
• Create & update all content on the websites for The Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum,
ROMP Festival, and the Kentucky State Fiddle Championship
• Update event pages to include all concerts & ticketed events
• Work with museum store manager to ensure online store listings are accurate and up to date
• Utilize online analytics programs to successfully measure reach and demographics
• Familiarity with SEO and SEM tactics for optimal online performance
• Monitor contact form inquiries & promptly respond
Graphic Design & Video Production
• Create content using Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop , and Adobe Premiere
• Design advertisements for media outlets in a timely manner including graphics, radio spots, videos, etc.
• Design overlays & signage
• Edit videos for use on social media, websites, television, etc.
Email Marketing
• Create content for email blasts relating to the Hall of Fame, ROMP Festival, and other programming
• Manage email database & update new contacts
• Promptly respond to all email inquiries
Public Relations
• Create and distribute press releases for all events related to The Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame &
Museum, ROMP Festival, and other programming
• Cultivate relationships with current and potential local, national, and international media outlets
• Collaborate with the Executive Director to best establish and promote the mission and vision of the organization
Concert & Event Ticketing
• Learn & master the online ticketing system used by the Hall of Fame & ROMP Festival
• Setup new events/concerts in the online ticketing system
• Answer questions from customers in a timely manner
• Track ticket sales & analyze data
• Work closely with the Executive Director for event dates, ticket pricing, & number of tickets available
• Collaborate closely with box office staff to successfully convert ticket sales
• Process ticket refunds in collaboration with accounting staff
• Ensure all ticket information is updated on the Hall of Fame & ROMP websites
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
• *Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field
• Very comfortable using Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop , and Adobe Premiere
• Experience using WordPress & Squarespace
• Graphic design & video editing skills
• Proficient in Google Analytics
• Ability to successfully reach target markets
• Willingness to be innovative with various marketing strategies
• A team player who is comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
• Ability to create & publish content in a timely manner
• Capable of working on multiple projects simultaneously
