The Discipline Leader (DL) is a technical and sales role based in the southeastern United States with responsibility for growing Environmental Services for our municipal group through technical advancement, innovative applications, and luminescence in/within our South Region. As a “thought leader” at CDM Smith, you will present visionary and influential views on our municipal environmental services both internally and to our clients.
We are open to filling this position in any of our 13 states in the South which includes: Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, DC, Maryland, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi or Alabama

As the Discipline Leader and visionary you would contribute to CDM Smith's transformational growth by:
 Advancing the Environmental Services practice through the proper application of technology, growth of our technical capabilities within the discipline, staff development, and pre-positioning and distinguishing CDM Smith to assist in sales growth, improved capture rate and retention of both clients and staff.
 Positioning us technically, ahead of challenges being recognized in the marketplace, by pre-positioning for major pursuits by identifying and showcasing our technical differentiators.
 Supporting and participating on existing environmental projects by bringing senior level experience to our project teams and clients.
 Recruiting and retaining strategic technical talent and the best and brightest employees.
 Developing and guiding technical specialists and other discipline leaders within the practice and driving new ideas for research and development.
 Embracing continuous improvement, a culture of quality, accountability to commitments, and CDM Smith’s Core Values; and challenge of the “status quo”.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree
• 15 years of related experience
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in environmental project management or client management experience in the South area market.
• Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Science or Engineering.
• Comprehensive knowledge and multi-discipline experience planning, designing and managing large scale environmental projects.
• Registration as Professional Engineer, Licensed Site Remediation Professional, Professional Geologist, or equivalent license or certification.

Skills and Abilities:
Expert knowledge of corporate governance practices, organization design principles, accounting principles, finance, supply chain management, and organization management. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to understand highly complex technical, professional and business materials.
