Green River Spirits Company, founded in 2008, is headquartered in North Charleston, SC and specializes in the production of distilled spirits. We have 4 distinct business pillars: Private Label, Private Brand, Managed Brand and Bulk Sales. Our Private Brand pillar is a dedicated division designed to support brand owners in bringing their visions to life. We are proud partners with some of the fastest growing brands in the U.S., providing award winning spirits + world class logistics support for supplier companies big and small. We have a stellar portfolio of our own managed brands in the KY market as the jewels of our crowing achievements. We also sell bulk bourbon and rye whiskey in barrels, tankers & totes to global spirits companies and U.S. craft distilleries to supplement their production needs.
Additionally, Green River Spirits owns and operates the historic Green River Distilling Company in Owensboro, KY. Fully renovated in 2016, the distillery is the 10th permitted distillery in the state and the 4th largest independent bourbon distillery in the US. Originally founded in 1885 our distillery has a storied bourbon lineage. We are a heritage member of the Kentucky Distillers’ Association Kentucky Bourbon Trail. Our Master Distiller is Jacob Call, a Seventh-generation Kentuckian and 3rd generation Master Distiller. He oversees all aspects of whiskey production and warehousing.
Job Description: Grain Operator
Job Classification: Full Time – Hourly

Position Overview: Green River Distillery is seeking a self-motivated individual to join our team!
Reporting to the Production and Procurement Manager, the Grain Operator performs the day-to-day activities involving Receiving Grain, Milling Grain, and Assists in the Cook process. Attention to detail, and excellent attendance are two qualities required for the position. Green River utilizes state of the art technology to simplify and streamline the production tasks, this position will require consistent focus while working in 12-hour shifts. Here at Green River, quality and consistency are of the upmost importance, therefore 3-week, hands-on training will be provided.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitor/Understand automated system through computers and gauges to oversee and adjust the process accordingly.
Maintain good housekeeping practices and ensure equipment is clean and areas are organized at all times (5S).
Follow and maintain all SOP’s.
Follow all safety precautions and related OSHA requirements.
Understand process flows and equipment (augers, hammermills, grains, instruments, etc)
Perform normal and emergency startup/shutdown of all equipment.
Complete all distillery duties as directed by Supervisor.
Adheres to our business standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work in a team environment focusing on continuous improvement opportunities.
Overtime may be required, holiday work, and weekends.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements
An outstanding work record including job performance, safety, and attendance.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
Previous distillation/manufacturing experience preferred
Must be able to work in extremely hot, cold, loud, and dusty conditions.
Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
Computer skills
Be able to physically perform all aspects of the position. This includes but is not limited to:
Lift 70 lbs. on a regular basis from floor to shoulder height.
Climb a minimum of two flights of stairs in succession
Able to bend, stoop, and reach overhead.
Schedule: Weekend Nights
- Friday 1:00AM – 7:00AM
- Friday 7:00PM – 7:00AM Saturday
- Saturday 7:00PM- 7:00AM Sunday
- Sunday 7:00PM – 7:00AM Monday
