The Director of Product Management (Retail Stores) is responsible for driving the vision and delivery of the retail product portfolio by managing the output of cross-functional teams in business, product, design, and engineering. The Director of Product Management Stores will lead and develop a team of product managers to deliver on the objectives of their product line. This position will be responsible for developing objectives and key results (OKRs) for their product line and ensuring that product delivery meets those objectives. This individual is a driven strategist who takes personal responsibility for the success of the team and can communicate effectively with all areas of the company and all levels of leadership.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Technology or related field or equivalent work experience, Required
• 10 years of experience in retail, product management, and/or technology, Required
• Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and/or Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), or equivalent, Preferred
• Excellent knowledge of business, retail sales, operations and customer experience. Product Management, Data Analytics or Human Insights in a Retail company,
• Excellent knowledge of leading cross-functional teams to develop product or analytics solutions
• Excellent project management and creative thinking skill
• Strong experience working in an agile work environment
• Knowledge of data analytic and business intelligence solutions (Alteryx, Power BI)
• Experience working with third parties on Request for proposal (RFPs) and manage outcomes development
• Experience with Agile software development
• Strong personal organizational and time management skills with very high attention to detail
• Ability to produce timely deliverables and manage multiple and shifting priorities in a fast paced environment
• Advanced presentation skills
• Proficiency with project management software tools, MS Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint etc.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.) skills
• Strong project management skills
Responsibilities
• Lead a Product Management team composed of product managers of different levels.
• Drive the vision and delivery of new and innovative products to meet internal and external customer needs.
• Lead Product Design, road mapping, journey-mapping, or any other necessary design sessions with key stakeholders and leadership.
• Conduct customer research and design sessions to identify the need for new products and/or enhancement to existing products.
• Prioritize product opportunities to be solved and features to be developed based on business and customer value.
• Develop and monitor progress against Product OKRs and other goals.
• Be the expert on the internal and external customer needs, and the product solutions being developed to meet those needs.
• Build trust and respect, establish relationships, and develop rapport with technical and non-technical team members.
• Promote transparency by providing regular updates to key stakeholders and the leadership team
• Collaborate with stakeholders, leaders, and cross-functional teams to research emerging technologies and determine those that are best suited to become business solutions; provide recommendations to the team; collectively organize ideas into actionable, profitable projects.
• Assist with conducting internal and external interviews with end users, customers and third party partners, to gather information that will help to improve developed products. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conduct vendor/partner evaluations.
• Lead and/or participate in ideation workshops with internal/external participants to help generate ideas.
• Ensure business value is being delivered on a frequent basis through the production deployment of working tested software.
• Continually prioritize the Product Portfolio to enable the best business value delivery possible.
• Make employment decisions and/or recommendations on hiring, improvement plans, transfers, promotions, corrective actions, terminations, pay adjustments, etc.
• Coordinate and manage the work of employees by directing members of the team to meet the area’s goals. Audit regularly to ensure standard operating procedures are being adhered to.
• Manage employee performance and assist employees in making improvements to their performance through coaching, mentoring and administering performance reviews. Recommend, plan and/or implement employee training and skill development activities.
• Audit, maintain and ensure employee time-keeping and absentee records are accurate.
• Communicate company and departmental issues and goals and facilitate employee growth and development through weekly team meetings, regular individual employee meetings, coaching, training, and company-offered learning opportunities.
• Manage resources to optimize equipment, facilities, employees, methods and materials.
