You Will Be Responsible For:
• Conducts fitness assessments and prescribes exercise programs for patients and is responsible for follow-up with these patients. May also be required to send reports to the member’s referring physician.
• Coordinates and administers individual exercise program consultations for patients based on current American College of Sports Medicine (“ACSM”) and Cardiac Rehabilitation Program guidelines.  Coordinates referrals to and from AHT for appropriate intervention based on Cardiac Rehabilitation guidelines.
• Collaborates with Inpatient Services to facilitate referrals to Outpatient Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehab Programs, as needed.
• Collaborates with nursing staff to review and approve physician prescriptions to evaluate and treat in the Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programs
• Collaborates with Registered Nurses, Team Leader, and Programs Manager/Supervisor in the development, implementation and administration of the Physician Referral Program, including interaction with physicians, physician office staff members and AHT physician representatives.
• Proactively participates in process of performance improvement team and changes care as a result of performance improvement activities. Is responsible for the planning and implementation of educational programs related to fitness and wellness for patients in Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehab. Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department.
• Performs the primary duties and responsibilities of a ‘Level 3’ Personal Trainer (Health & Fitness Specialist):
• Performs fitness test, including cardiovascular and non-cardiovascular testing, body-fat composition, cholesterol screening, flexibility assessment, and exercise program review.  Provides consultation to individuals and groups regarding their test results.
• Develops exercise prescriptions and programs for members based on their health and fitness needs, specifying fitness equipment and routines.
• Provides fitness floor supervision.  Provides exercise instruction and explains and demonstrates use of fitness apparatus and equipment.  Offers oral instruction to patients on fitness technique and recommends corrective adjustments.  Observes participants engaged in fitness activities to ensure safety rules and regulations are adhered to.
• As requested, leads exercise sessions, that utilize proper fitness techniques based on the most current evidence-based research and promotes member participation.
• Ensures that the fitness floors and equipment are clean and well maintained.
• As requested, provides corporate health promotion services, fitness testing, wellness screenings, and lectures on health, nutrition, and fitness.
• Provides coverage in any area mentioned above based on the needs of the members and organization.
• Stays current with research and trends in fitness through attendance at workshops, reading professional journals and networking with other fitness professionals.
• Represents the AdventHealth Tampa, Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programs in a professional, courteous and enthusiastic manner.
• Maintains a safe environment for the patients. Accurate assessments (B/P, heart rate, SpO2 for cardiopulmonary units, and general condition) at rest and of participant’s response to exercise with appropriate response to any untoward responses. Consults with RN regarding participant’s medication or other clinical measures that they may not be proficient interpreting and provide appropriate response. Competently interprets Electrocardiogram (ECG) basic rhythm strips and vital sign measurements, etc. and responds appropriately
• Required to work variable shifts. Accepts assignments within or away from the department activity or unit with a positive and cooperative attitude.  Participates in the orientation of new personnel or interns.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• B.S. degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related major
• BLS Certification required upon hire.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

• M.S. degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Kinesiology or related major
• Three years of experience in related field.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:
• Additional specialty fitness certifications preferred
• American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Certified Exercise Physiologist (EP-C) or
• American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) or
• American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional Certification (CCRP)
• CSCS or ACE specialty certifications

Reporting to the Cardiovascular Programs Manager/Supervisor, the Exercise Physiologist provides professional fitness services to patients based on their health and fitness needs, which includes fitness testing, performing customer service tasks, and assisting patients with exercise routines and equipment utilization.
