DUTIES:
Analyzes and evaluates requests for professional judgement exceptions and adjustments to need analysis results and award packages.  Verifies applicant data, independently reviews and calculates changes to need analysis data and determine changes in eligibility for need-based financial aid.  Exercises professional judgment in authorizing changes to student and parent need analysis data that will result in changes in aid eligibility.  Make independent awarding decisions encompassing the synthesis of student and parent demographic and financial data, correlating that information with awarding policies and procedures.
Counsels current students, prospective students, and parents on the various options regarding aspects of professional judgement changes.  Counseling occurs both in the lobby and by phone appointment. Demonstrates a detailed knowledge of all aspects of the financial aid process, eligibility issues and possible exceptions for extenuating circumstances. Monitors, evaluates and processes students who have either officially or unofficially withdrawn from classes. Uses chronological reports to identify withdrawn students. Determines withdrawal dates, completes R2T4 calculations, sends notices, and posts tracking requirements.
Researches and formulates responses to phone, e-mail and written correspondences from students, prospective students and parents that requires an individualized and specific response to complex issues, such as professional judgement or R2T4 related issues that may require extensive research.
Other duties as defined by department, college, or university officials.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):
Minimum Qualifications:
• This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with two or more years of experience in an office or administrative support position. College or other relevant postsecondary coursework may substitute for the experience requirement on a year for year basis. Testing may be required to assess competency on word processing software.
Preferred Qualifications:
• One to three years of current (within the last 3 years) experience administering TitleIV aid in financial aid office; customer service experience.
