Dr. Patricia McDonald#is seeking to hire a highly motivated and independent Research Scientist in the department of Cancer Physiology at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center. Applicants interested in drug discovery projects aimed at validating novel anti-diabetic and anti-cancer GPCR drug targets and developing agents to modulate these receptors are encouraged to apply. Our laboratory is focused on investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying the regulation, trafficking, and activation of GPCRs involved in Metabolic disorders, and Cancer; with the goal of #identifying novel, tractable, anti-diabetes and anti-cancer GPCR drug targets, developing selective molecular probes of these targets and, where possible, optimizing these probes to generate in vivo lead molecules for testing in pre-clinical models, ultimately translating these findings into diabetes and cancer clinical trials. # Position Highlights: The position is for a Research Scientist I to join a multidisciplinary team to interrogate GPCR signal transduction pathways relating to diabetes, obesity and cancer aimed at identifying novel, tractable drug targets for the treatment of these diseases, and to contribute to our understanding of the metabolic disorder-cancer relationship. Opportunity to gain drug discovery experience in collaboration with world-class clinical and basic science faculty. The Ideal Candidate: Successful candidate#will have a strong background in signal transduction with a keen interest in drug discovery research. Prior experience is required with some of the following techniques: extensive experience with basic molecular and cell biology skills extensive experience#with mammalian cell culture experience with immunofluorescence staining and multi parameter flow cytometery, sample preparation and# data aqcquistion experience in animal models Good problem-solving skills, ability to conduct independent research, ability to work effectively in a team While experience in the above skills is highly preferred, applicants with related skills set are encouraged to apply. Credentials and Qualifications: Required to have a PhD in Molecular, Cellular, Chemical Biology, or relevant field with a minimum of 3 years of Postdoc experience. Must have a minimum of 2 first author peer reviewed publications. Preference will be give to someone with in vivo experience with animal models of metabolic disorders # Moffitt is the only Florida cancer center to receive the National Cancer Institute designation for its scientific excellence and offers unique opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations at the forefront of finding new cancer cures. # Interested applicants should send a single PDF file that includes a cover letter summarizing their research training and accomplishments, a personal statement of scientific interests and goals, current CV with recent publications, and contact information for three references to Dr. Patricia McDonald at Patsy.mcdonald@Moffitt.org. # #
