Ultra Cyber, a division of Ultra Intelligence & Communications, is currently seeking a full-time Project Engineer (Technical Lead) to work from our Tampa, FL location. Reporting to the Program Manager, the Lead Software/Project Engineer will:
• Act as the technical lead for mid-size projects
• Provide overall technical direction, guidance, development, and schedule tasking on a project
• Interact with customer for project status and requirement development
• Implement the engineering development process within a project
• Lead trade studies and architecture development
• Support technical proposal solution development and level of effort estimation
Essential Job Duties:
• Lead the specification, design, and development of embedded systems with a team consisting of software, firmware, and hardware engineers
• Provide high level design and allocation of requirements to subsystems
• Participate in process/tool improvements and drive quality initiatives
• Follow CMMI Level 3 or higher policies and procedures
• Manage Agile Software development projects
• Define unit, integration, and acceptance test plans
• Develop and manage development schedule
• Perform Configuration Management for developmental items of software/firmware.
• Assign technical tasks to appropriate members of the development team to maintain a tight schedule
• Report task progress using written and oral communications
• Mentor junior engineers
• Keep abreast of new technologies that can be beneficial to the projects and business.
• Understand business objectives, priorities, and company's vision. Proactively assess and adjust team's objectives, priorities, and tasks so that they remain aligned with higher level objectives and vision
Required Skills:
• Must be a US Citizen
• Current Secret Security Clearance
• Bachelor's degree in computer science/software engineering/computer engineering or related degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum 8-10 years' experience (12+ years required with no degree) in increasing responsible technical positions
• Strong knowledge of ANSI C, Python, Java, C++
• Requires strong analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills with the ability to adapt skills to various analytical situations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Must have a strong desire to succeed in a very dynamic environment

• Ability to interact with customer representatives
• Has a positive attitude, strong work ethic, willing and able to lead complex technical tasks
• Proactively keep abreast of relevant cutting-edge technologies
• Visualize project outcomes and understand/manage risks

• Ability to make effective project presentations
• Ability to develop a short to long term integrated approach to product development that result in solutions/ deployment and customer satisfaction
• Strong coordination, organization, and teaming abilities.
• Familiarity SEI CMMI as tailored to small, agile development teams
• Hands-on knowledge of software technologies, standards, processes, and metrics
• Knowledge of NSA Type 1 Certification process is a plus
• Experience with Xilinx SoC/FPGA development environment is a plus
• Knowledge of relevant US DoD developments and systems is a plus
Physical Requirements:
• Frequently required to sit and use manual dexterity
• Works in an office environment with little or occasional light physical effort
• Works on a computer, requiring the ability to view a monitor for long periods of time
• Limited travel (approx 10% of time) to customer sites and other Ultra Cyber sites/offices required
