Full Job Description Newspaper Printing Company is a unique printer who combines the latest technology and equipment with exceptional individuals who are dedicated to their craft and hold themselves to the highest standards.
Overview
The Prepress Tech uses computer systems and follows NPC standard operating procedures to load, review, and complete jobs, including making printing plates.
Job Accountabilities
• Review work orders to ensure customer instructions are clear on all incoming jobs. Use computer & software programs to transfer files to file server, check documents for missing fonts and graphics, and check for unacceptable graphic format and color problems that may delay the completion of a job.
• Use computer systems to process files, make digital proofs, Rip tiff files for the printing process and use the CTP system to produce printing plates.
• Create proofs, fold, and check and prepare proofs for customers to view. Check both proofs and plates for page order, correct trim and image size and bleed.
• Create proper quality documentation on jobs which have specific problems. Communicate issues working closely with supervisors.
• Check jobs on press and in bindery for content as per job ticket.
• Bend plates to go to press.
• Use the Monarch job tracking system to make entries on work completed
Minimum Requirements
• High school diploma -preferred.
• PC and Mac operating systems knowledge.
• Proficiency in page layout program, graphics and PDF software.
• Work independently with strong attention to detail.
• Knowledge of plating and layout impositions.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret work orders. Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Bend and Lift 30LBS.
