You Will Be Responsible For:
The Physical Therapy Assistant will practice within the Scope of Standards of Physical Therapy practice.
• Demonstrates through behavior Florida Hospital’s Core Values of Integrity, Compassion, Balance, Excellence, Stewardship and Teamwork as outlined in the organization’s Performance Excellence Program.
• Assessment: Collection of comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health or situation. Accurately assesses and records patient progress towards attainment of expected outcomes.
• Diagnosis: Assists the Physical Therapist in the review of assessment data to identify diagnoses or issues.
• Outcomes Identification: Assists the Physical Therapist in planning interventions and goals with the patient/family based on the identified problems and desired outcomes.
• Planning: The patient’s Plan of Care is recorded and followed to attain expected outcomes.
• Implementation: Implements the identified plan of care.
• Collaboration with Physical Therapist: In order to implement an effective plan of care and identify changes with patient’s condition that may alter the plan of care.
• Teaches, directs and instructs PT Technician: In order to promote safety and carry out an effective treatment method, the Physical Therapy Assistant must be able to provide timely, appropriate and effective instructions to the PT Technician so they can provide better support wherever necessary.
• Training: Effectively educate and train patients, caregivers, and team members, when necessary.
• Mentorship: Effectively mentor Physical Therapy Assistant Students (optional).
What You Will Need:
He/she must possess the knowledge, skills and abilities, and be able to explain and demonstrate that he/she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using a combination of skills and abilities.
• Comprehensive knowledge and applications of principles of medical physical therapy for therapeutic diagnostics and treatment.
• Ability to communicate in written, verbal and electronic formats with patients, staff, physicians, nurses and administrators in an effective, accurate and timely manner.
• Ability to plan, organize, direct and critique the work of others.
• Ability to initiate and promote innovation and change.
• Ability to establish collaborative alliances and promote teamwork.
• Ability to follow and implements the Plan of Care established by the Physical Therapist.
• Possess excellent customer service skills.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:

• Has the ability to use or to learn how to use an electronic information system used in a healthcare setting.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Graduate of an accredited School for Physical Therapy Assistant.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

• Has at least completed an internship in the appropriate setting applied for with a passing grade.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
• Current Florida Physical Therapy Assistant License
• Current BLS from American Heart Association
Job Summary:
The Physical Therapy Assistant implements patient care for assigned patients under the direction of a Physical Therapist in accordance with the Florida Physical Therapy Association standards and pursuant to Florida Department of Professional Regulation, Chapter 486.021 (b): “Physical Therapy Assistant means a person who is licensed in accordance with the provisions of this chapter to perform patient related activities, including the use of physical agents, whose license is in good standing and whose activities are performed under the direction of a Physical Therapist as set forth in rules adapted pursuant to this chapter.”
