Full Job Description Cost Accountant
Position Summary
We are looking for a Cost Accountant to join our accounting department. You’ll primarily be responsible for the creation and maintenance of all bill of materials (BOMs). You must be motivated and possess excellent analytical and time management skills. Our ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Ultimately, you will own the bill of material process and the cost system.
Responsibilities
• Create and manage a bill of materials (BOMs) for all products.
• Work with the manufacturing team to dissect manufacturing costs and identify areas of improvement in costing procedures, own the bill of materials process.
• Develop, improve, and maintain product estimating processes to support accurate pricing for standard, custom, and developing products.
• Develop and analyze cost center financial reports. Collaborate with operations to understand and act on financial performance.
• Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies.
• Prepare (monthly, quarterly, and annual) cost forecasts
• Assisting in month-end and year-end closing.
Skills
• Proven work experience as a Cost Accountant, Cost Analyst, Project Accountant or similar role.
• Thorough understanding of manufacturing plant operations.
• In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Experience with ERP accounting software, like Acumatica and NetSuite.
• Computer literacy, MS Excel in particular (familiarity with VLOOKUPs and pivot tables).
• Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail.
• Strong time management skills.
• Must meet deadlines and deliver quality results with a “can do” attitude.
• Integrity, with an ability to handle confidential information.
• BSc degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant study.
