NOVA Engineering is seeking an Environmental Department Manager in our Tampa office. The department manager is responsible for overall management of the group, including planning, growth, profitability, cost control, employee development, quality control, and client relations. This position also includes business development and collections activities. The primary focus of the position is client development, technical execution and project management of work related to Environmental services. Projects will be located primarily in the Central Florida Area. In this position, the candidate is expected to maintain an average utilization rate of 75% of hours worked.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for all P/L duties for the Tampa Environmental department
• Lead business development activities including project identification and pursuit, scope of work development, proposal preparation and development of project opportunities with new and existing clients.
• Assist with business development efforts for environmental services across all Florida markets and offices
• Prepare annual budgets for Tampa Environmental Services Group
• Prepare project cost estimates
• Responsible for client management
• Prepare and submit corporate management and budgeting reports
• Review and approve personnel timesheets and expenses
• Perform annual performance reviews for direct report
• Manage employee work-flow
• Subcontract management
• Work closely with marketing team for preparation of responses to RFPs and RFQs and write technical aspects of submittals
• Drive strategic planning for Florida environmental markets
• Responsible for overall safety of the department and taking an active role in the overall safety leadership in the office
• Responsible for overall management of the environmental consulting services and projects to ensure performance and profitability. Manage a team of engineers and technicians, evaluate and guide their performance, and assist in their professional development and growth.
• Supervise the preparation of routine proposals and quotations to clients to ensure proper scoping of services, availability of manpower, and pricing.
• Ensure that the testing, engineering and inspection work in the office, laboratory and field are accomplished with high quality and in an orderly and efficient manner.
• Monitor that all department personnel are properly trained, supervised and equipped with the necessary tools and equipment to ensure their personal safety in the office, laboratory, project sites, and in vehicles
• Work closely with clients to ensure their satisfaction and continually cultivate new projects.
• Ensure that reports, proposals, inspections and information are properly prepared and reported, deliverable schedules are maintained, and that routine company administrative policies are followed.
• Work closely with Office Manager on personnel planning, recruiting and training, and on the development of the departmental business plan and other planning and administrative issues
Requirements:
• At least 8 years of relevant experience
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or related discipline
• PE or PG registration in Florida or able to become registered within six months of start date
• Must be computer literate and possess management and financial skills.
• Ability to train, mentor, supervise, identify, hire, and terminate employees.
• Position may require the ability to lift and/or move 35-100 pounds occasionally, and the candidate must be able to accomplish field tasks under adverse weather and/or site conditions. The working environment can be moderately noisy to loud in nature, and some assignments may require working in confined spaces or climbing and working at above average heights. The candidate may be exposed to humidity, high temperatures, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.

• Able to pass a background check, drug test and have an acceptable driving record.
