This is a temporary position and the candidate will be scheduled to  work 30-40 hours per week
Your Specific Responsibilities:
This position is technical work installing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting multiple distributed computer systems for use by end-users including the hardware, software, and communications components of distributed systems.  This position is a member of the desktop support team within the Information Technology Department and is expected to be a team player supporting other staff members.  It may travel to remote sites to remedy problems with computer and/or network equipment or software. This position may require adjusting work hours on short notice to allow time after hours for upgrades to computer and/or network equipment or to repair such systems due hardware or software failures.   This position does fulfill a role in the disaster recovery plan and could require unusual work conditions and alternate work times in an emergency or disaster situation.  This position will participate in an On call rotation and will be subject to call during all other times.  This position will also participate in the Help Desk On Call Person of the Day.
Serves as a primary or secondary Helpdesk support technician on a rotational basis.  Answers helpdesk calls, determines nature of the problem, and enters work order or trouble ticket into the IT Helpdesk database system.  Assists users with basic software application support with all applications.  Assists users as an organizational unit account manager with routine network access problems including account lockouts and password changes. Prioritizes calls according to the severity and extent of the problem and refers computer system problems and failures to appropriate technician or support staff.
Consults with users and assists the Distributed Computer Systems Consultant (DCSC), Distributed Computer Systems Specialist (DCSS) and/or the Data Systems Manager (DSA) in conducting information assessments to define user and systems requirements. Assists the DCSS, DCSC, and/or DSA in the design and configuration of the distributed computer systems environment with hardware, software, and communications components to solve operating problems for the LAN. Assists the DCSS, DCSC, and/or DSA to establish methods and procedures for use of the distributed computer systems which will include the hardware, software, communications and user training. Analyzes and resolves hardware, software, and communications problems using diagnostic software and/or technical trouble shooting processes.
Assists with the installation and implementation of distributed computer systems hardware, software, and communications components including enhancements and upgrades.
Assists the DCSS, DCSC and/or DSM to test new programs. Conducts on-going support to identify methods/techniques for improving the use of existing hardware, software, and to improve written documentation. Assists the DCSC and/or DSM in the development and coordination of a distributed infrastructure (both short and long term) for the LAN.
Serves as liaison with vendors in solving routine problems with the information technology related equipment Coordinates the repair or installation of equipment.  Will also work with hardware and software technical support representatives to resolve any hardware or software related issues.
Will maintain an inventory of the networks' distributed processing hardware, and software; including serial numbers, property numbers, location, machine name, version(s) of operating systems, versions of software, type of training and to whom provided.
Will train users on the use of various computer application and peripherals.
Travel when needed or required to assist with computer related issues.
Performs related work as required.
