As an Associate Medical Director, you will maintain expert subject matter knowledge in relevant therapeutic areas and be able to successfully lead and execute medical strategies. You will enjoy customer facing medical affairs activities and will be responsible for the development and consolidation of a network of long-term peer-to-peer relationships with a variety of key external stakeholders, including clinicians and researchers.
Reporting into the Medical Director of the Pfizer Hospital Business Unit in Australia, New Zealand and Korea, you will have highly developed communication skills and be responsible for generating, providing input to, and enhancing scientific communication between Pfizer and healthcare professionals. While doing so you will uphold Pfizer Australia's commitment to high standards of conduct in all its dealings with the medical profession.
The role participates in cross-functional medical affairs activities that support the Anti-Infectives portfolio, including medical support for existing and pipeline products, provision of technical, medical and/or scientific input for regulatory and market access initiatives, and leading internal training of commercial partners. Within this role you will also contribute to development of the country brand strategy, and medical operation plans for in-line and pipeline products in the Anti-Infectives portfolio.
**Role Responsibilities**
+ Developing, drive and implement medical activities that support the company's interests, including medical support for new and existing products, provision of medical, scientific and technical advice and maintaining medical partnerships with key opinion leaders in assigned therapeutic areas
+ Develop and maintain expertise in subject matter knowledge in the given therapeutic areas to support the team to develop and define product strategy
+ Enhance scientific communication between clinicians, academics, researchers and the Medical Department within Pfizer to position Pfizer as a scientific partner of choice
+ Respond to medical enquiries in a manner that meets the scientific and clinical needs of customers and patients
+ Identify opportunities for research and provide ongoing support by reviewing research protocols, reports and medical publications
+ Work in partnership with global medical teams to manage consistency across products and therapeutic areas in meeting BU objectives
+ Interaction with the Pfizer Global and Regional TA teams to ensure alignment and consistency across countries and regions, which may entail attendance at Medical Scientific Subcommittees (MSCs) outside of routine working hours.
+ Supporting the responsible use of our novel antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal medicines, including their appropriate positioning in accordance with current scientific evidence and the principles of antimicrobial stewardship and a commitment to the principles of evidence-based medicine (EBM) and the quality use of medicines (QUM)
**About You**
Essential requirements:
+ Minimum 5 years of pharmaceutical experience
+ Senior allied health or advanced medical scientific degree with significant experience or additional qualification in infectious diseases, microbiology, virology, or closely related field
+ Pharmaceutical or clinical experience, in-depth knowledge, and insight into the clinical use of medicines in the anti-infectives therapeutic area
+ Good working knowledge of the relevant industry and professional Codes of Conduct and Practice in both Australia and New Zealand
+ Comprehensive understanding of applicable health environmental factors, including drug registration and reimbursement processes
+ Knowledge of pharmacovigilance, regulatory legislation and governmental health economics and outcomes measures and how they impact the anti-infectives product portfolio
Preferred:
+ Medical Practitioner degree
