Full Job Description Senior Training Specialist (Fleet Management) - ( 2100012P )
Hillsborough County will require all new hires to be fully vaccinated. New hires who onboard on or after August 30 must provide proof of being “fully” vaccinated which is 2 full weeks after final vaccination shot.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will perform advanced level training functions responsible for a full range of activities in developing and presenting training courses and programs that include the preparation of curriculum, designing participant manuals, collecting appropriate videos and other materials, and conducting or facilitating training, meetings, seminars or other discussions in various settings. The candidate will provide recommendations on technician technical training and progression. The candidate will track and monitor personnel certifications and licenses. Incumbents in this classification perform the duties of the operation. The candidate will possess and graduated from an accredited four-year degree-granting college or university; and/or completion of an accredited vocational school or technical training program.
Job Overview
Performs advanced level training functions where the employee is responsible for a full range of activities in developing and presenting training courses and programs that includes preparation of curriculum, designing participant manuals, collecting appropriate videios and other materials, and conducting or facillitating training, meetings, seminars or other discussions in various settings.
Minimum Qualifications
• Graduation from an accredited four-year degree granting college or university; OR
• Completion of an accredited vocational school or technical training program preferred; AND
• Two years of experience in adult teaching or coordinating adult training programs; AND
• Eight years of technical job experience preferred; OR
• An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience (not less than possession of a high school diploma/GED) that would reasonable be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted below. (For education and experience only, does not include legally required Licenses or Certifications.); AND
• Possession of a Master ASE Certification in Auto/Light Truck or Master ASE Cerfication in Medium/Heavy Truck (or must obtain within the 6 month probationary period); AND
• Possession of a Florida Class B CDL with Air Brake endorsement within the probationary period (or must obtain within the 6 month probationary period); AND
• Possession of an EPA approved 609 Certification (or must obtain within the 6 month probationary period)

Duties and Responsibilities
• Develops and implements training programs for various users.
• Researches and compiles data for includion into training programs and troubleshoots technical problems.
• Utilizes hardware, software, audio, and video equipment to compile and present data.
• Devises and implements a testing program for technicians for skill evaluation.
• Develops standards of skills required and machine usage.
• Appraises equipment operator performance and formulates programs to meet established goals.
• Works in the field to appraise training required and machine usage.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of application statutory training standards, policies, and procedures.
• Knowledge of adult instructional course development and classroom presentation methods and techniques.
• Knowledge of applicable subject matter, current trends, and developments.
• Skill in the application of managerial and supervisory techniques.
• Skill in designing training programs to achive objectives.
• Skill in presenting training courses to adult classes.
• Ability to organize and coordinate training activities with other organization and individuals.
• Ability to plan and organize adult education courses and facilitation activities, and to plan and evaluate training activities.
• Ability to assess staff training needs, and design appropriate training programs.
• Ability to measure training effectiveness, compile results and take appropriate action.
• Ability to communicate both orally and in writing, maintain records and prepare reports.
• Ability to collect, organize and evaluate data and to develop logical conclusions.
• Ability to work effectively with others.
• Ability to monitor personnel certifications and licenses.
• Ability to coordinate and report to management expiring certification and licenses so personnel stay current.
• Ability to confer with management, supervisors, and employees to gain knowledge of work situations requiring training, and to remain abreast of changes in policies, procedures, regulations, business initiatives, and technologies.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job the employee is reqularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
Work Category
Light work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that of sedentary work and if the worker sits most of the time, the job is considered light work.
Emergency Management Responsibilities
In the event of an emergency or disaster, an employee may be required to respond promptly to duties and responsibilities as assigned by the employee’s department, the County’s Office of Emergency Management, or County Administration. Such assignments may be for before, during or after the emergency/disaster.
Additional Job Requirements
A department, depending on the nature of its mission and operations, may require that employees in all or certain positions in this job classification possess the necessary job related license(s) or certification(s) that may include possession of a Florida Driver License (Class E) or an applicable Commercial Driver License (CDL)
