Description:
Job Duties:
Responsible for the installation, monitoring, testing of telecommunications and associated transport equipment per specifications and operational procedures. Performs testing and diagnostic procedures on equipment according to published equipment standards to include Physical Layer and Logical Layer platforms. Maps, grow, and/or tests transmission equipment FlashWave, Nortel Classic, Digital Cross Connect, etc. Map routers, bridges, multiplexers, concentrators, etc. Create or perform migrations to new and existing Carriers such as PVC/EVC;s on Various routers; utilizes remote test systems to isolate and resolve continuity problems. Coordinates the test and turn up of service with all involved providers until the customer’s service is up and working.
Must Have Skills:
Under minimal supervision, this role will be responsible for configuring and grooming infrastructure circuits from the Tellabs/Coriant/ALU routers to the Juniper routers in the AS701 Public IP network.
Desired Skills:
Associate or bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or experience in Logical Telecommunications discipline.
Strong understanding of L2, L3 network protocols and equipment such as Cisco and Juniper routers/switches.
Ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of industry trends in all areas of Private and Public IP platforms.
System/OSS knowledge of outage protocols and client systems including IMPACT, IPNMP, SNM, MASTARS, RMOD and ETMS technologies.
Ability to work effectively with diverse team members and must have a good organizational and communication skills.
Requires independent thinking.
Generally, requires minimum of 5 years of experience in the same or related discipline.
Required Shift:
Available to work all shifts, any day of the week and weekends.
