The Agency for Persons with Disabilities works in partnership with local communities to support people with developmental disabilities in living, learning, and working in their communities. APD provides critical services and supports for customers with developmental disabilities to reach their full potential. The Agency serves people with spina bifida, autism, Down syndrome, children age 3-5 at high risk of developmental disabilities, cerebral palsy, Prader-Willi syndrome, Phelan-McDermid syndrome, and intellectual disabilities. There is no charge or co-payment for services provided through the Agency.

DIRECT DEPOSIT PROGRAM - As a condition of employment, a person appointed to a position in State government is required to participate in the Direct Deposit Program.  Rather than receiving a paper paycheck, your funds will be deposited directly into your account at your financial institution. This will be accomplished by Electronic Funds Transfer. Banks, savings and loan associations, and credit unions are eligible to accept such deposits. Retirement funds are also required to be in the Direct Deposit Program.
BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT:
It is the policy of the Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities that applicants for employment undergo Level 2 employment screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment or being permitted to serve as a volunteer.
No applicant for a designated position will be employed or permitted to volunteer until the Level 2 screening results are received, reviewed, and approved by the Agency.
Level 2 background screening shall include, but not be limited to, fingerprinting for Statewide criminal and juvenile records checks through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and Federal criminal records checks through the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and may include local criminal records checks through local law enforcement agencies.

REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
This position requires a minimum of two (2) years’ of experience in developmental disabilities, special education, mental health, counseling, guidance, social work, health or rehabilitative programs.
Position may require some travel to surrounding areas, applicant must be willing and able to travel for work purposes .

*** DUTIES:
Employees of the Agency for Persons with Disabilities are required to demonstrate total commitment to outstanding customer service. This includes, but is not limited to, always acting in a responsive, professional, courteous manner with the employees, customers and public we serve at all times.
This is a professional position of Human Services Program Analyst, work providing assistance and analysis for statewide social and economic services. This position works directly within the Suncoast Region intake unit assisting clients applying for services through  the Agency for Persons with Disabilities. Responsible for organizing the intake and eligibility documentation received. Duties may include; coordinating a purchase of services such as psychological and/or adaptive testing within the community, collaborating with team members and attending hearings as assigned. Requires knowledge of standard and specialized testing to detemine eligibility.
Working directly with applicants applying for services-assist with the application of service, explaining the rule/regulations followed in regard to what type of supporting documentation is required and applicable for a particular diagnosis, to support eligibility.
Responding to request for application packets, to be emailed or postal mailed to applicant. Packets will include application, appropriate brochures, Florida Administrative Rule with eligibility criteria and cover letter.  Follow up as necessary
Working closely with community advocates, school system, primary care physicians, health agencies and others to obtain supporting documentation to support eligibility as well as educating the applicant in regard to the services and requirements to obtain services through the Agency for Persons with Disabilities.
Review all evaluations submitted for eligibility, ensuring that they have been completed by the required professionals per the 65G-Florida Administrative Code. Confirming each document is labeled correctly.
Ensuring documentation referred for review within the unit is the required information for eligibility review/determination.
Creates/sends application acknowledgment notices to include missing documentation and to supplement notice with any clarifying documentation and/or brochures -follow-up as necessary
Return all calls regarding application processes, follow up within 55 days in regard to active applicant cases
Ensure that intake policy and procedures are initiated within required time frames.
