ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY: Technology Services for the USF, Sarasota-Manatee Campus, provides tech-related services to all colleges and units within the Sarasota-Manatee campus.   This includes the Mote Marine [Longboat Key] and Culinary Innovation Lab [Lakewood Ranch] campuses.    Additionally, a relay to the New College of Florida campus resides in an IDF midway between the campuses, to provide telecom and network support to a police dispatch center, from where the Sarasota-Manatee campus receives police protection.
USF-SM Technology Services includes support for all desktop PC and laptop support, their connection to the USF network, classroom technology, offices, and common areas ? and access to wired and wireless network connectivity.   Personal laptops and mobile device access to the campus network is also supported.  Additionally, the campus currently houses 21 virtualized servers.   This includes control of our SiPASS swipe card entry system, a print server,  the campus parking (and other) ticket server, IP Camera Surveillance server, and one dedidcated to HVAC control.  These servers are housed in our Data Center, which includes a core router and wireless controller cards for the wireless WAP units, and all of our telecom infrastructure --  all connected to the main campus in Tampa.
POSITION SUMMARY:The network and server support employee administers, operates, and maintains the servers as well as the local area networks for campus at large, as well as the remote sites.   There are a total of six IDF closets on the Sarasota campus, in addition to a switch at our Mote Marine location, and a network closet at our CIL where both wired and wireless support is provided by Spectrum.  The position exists to maintain and support all of these servers and network switches.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Install, maintain, operate, and administer servers and local area networks, along with connections to other networks.
Design server and workstation configurations.  Prepare new and upgraded computers to be connected to computer networks.   Set up, maintain, install, and support desktops, laptops, servers, network switches, and routers as required.
Allocate network resources to end-users.   Establish account and server maintenance procedures.
Coordinate delivery of desktop support services for the unit.   Diagnose and provide support on computer system problems, including debugging, correcting, repairing, servicing, examining, installing, training, and troubleshooting network issues, computer hardware and software, printers, and other peripherals.
Provide assistance to faculty, staff, and students on the use of network resources, and computer software and hardware.
Perform other duties as assigned
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM: This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with six years of experience in related positions. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
