POSITION SUMMARY:
This position works in the Department of Urology. Its primary purpose is to treat patients both independently and as a team member with our Faculty. There are two primary practice locations: the USF South Tampa Center (STC) located across from TGH, and the USF Morsani Center (located on the USF campus). This position is to directly support the Men's Health initiatives and the Sexual Medicine division of USF Urology. This position is being added to accommodate for the changes in Florida Law requiring every 6 month follow ups for patients on androgen replacement therapy which is a schedule III controlled substance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide outpatient clinic care including evaluation of new patients, established patients and post op care. Obtain History and Physical Examination, order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic test/procedures in coordination with Faculty supervising physician. Manage medical problems; initiate, monitor and alter therapies; order diagnostic tests and prescribe therapeutic medications in coordination with Faculty supervising physician, fellows, residents. Regularly confer with faculty physicians regarding diagnosis, treatment, best forms of therapy, and alert physicians to abnormal findings. Return patient phone calls, respond to EPIC tasks and messages, renew prescriptions, coordinate rehabilitative therapy and assess post-procedure problems.
• Coordinate full spectrum of patient care including patient education and follow-up care instructions and provisions for continuity of care after discharge. Provide pre- and post-procedure education, assessment and care of patients. Based on licensure and training, there is the possibility of performing routine urologic procedures in office, such as: cystoscopies, penile dopplers, bladder scans, penile injections, catheter changes etc. Documentation of all orders, procedures and progress notes within EPIC, USF's electronic medical record.
• Represent and support the mission, philosophy and goals of the Department of Urology. Participate in clinical and education objectives required for licensure, certification and credentialing. Responsible for assisting in development, implementing and maintaining established departmental and practice wide policies and procedures, including quality assurance, environmental, HIPAA, and infectious control regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
• This position requires graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant academic degree program and certification as outlined in Florida Statutes 458 and 459 and Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 64.
PREFERRED:
• Prefer a minimum of one three years in a surgical outpatient clinic (assessing, treating and documenting patient visits), as well as urology outpatient experience.
• Knowledge of clinical systems, such as EPIC a plus.
• Graduate of an accredited program and licensed in the state of Florida.
• General knowledge of Men's Health with knowledge of urology preferred.
