This position is a “hands on” role requiring a broad range of technical skills as well as an aptitude and interest in coordinating work of others to resolve production issues and/or enhancement work. As a specialists in the Tier2/Level2 custom application production support role, this position works with the necessary resources to resolve issues for application-related user problems and/or application development implemented solutions. Accountable for the analysis, resolution or coordination of the resolution of reported production issues or enhancements/maintenance requests that are reported by our users or assigned by the IT Service Desk. Project management of small projects and system deployments will be done in conjunction with the primary roles of support and enhancements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Communicates effectively with end users, application development team, IT Operations staff and management to explain technical processes, issues and recommended solutions.
• Maintain and support internet based enterprise web applications.
• Perform triage on production issues reported leveraging available tools and environment access including but not limited to SQL, file/log file interrogation, user setup, and requirement/specification document.
• Devise and recommend workarounds to quickly resolve technical issues while working to develop long-term solutions.
• Support web services and batch interfaces to ensure timely delivery of data and accurate processing.
• Escalate severity and communicate to all levels of management when necessary.
• Ensures the accuracy and timeliness of all information entered into production scheduling, problem management systems and VSTS/TFS when applicable.
• Monitor production application performance. Alerting team members and management on errors and trends identified. Collaborate to find resolutions on all issues.
• Must have flexibility with work hours and be able to provide on-demand support as required.
• Writing operational deployment documentation and other technical documentation.
• Document findings, including new defects and work with support teams to enhance the knowledgebase.
• Working closely with other staff, such as project managers, business systems analysts, and DBA; consulting colleagues concerning the maintenance and performance of software systems and asking questions to obtain information, clarify details and implement information.
• Proactively update professional and technical knowledge and skills by attending in-house, web casts and/or external courses, reading manuals and accessing new applications.
• May act as a vendor liaison while maintaining relationships with external suppliers and vendors for specified processes.
• Problem-solving and thinking laterally as part of a team, or individually, to meet the needs of the release schedule.
• Ensures quality of work following system development and maintenance life cycle standards. Recommends changes in system development and maintenance standards.
• Maintains supports, troubleshoots and enhances current Production applications as assigned.
• Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task and delegate tasks.

Requirements
• Education - College degree, preferably a B.S. in Engineering, Computer Science from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience in programming in a distributed computing environment.
• Experience – A minimum of eight (4) years of Object Oriented Development particularly N-Tier programming development in a distributed systems environment OR any combination of academic education, professional training, or work experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position; Experience with all the phases of software engineering;

• Required technical proficiencies/knowledge – Requires a strong background in custom application software development environment including the design, documentation and implementation; Coordinating issue resolution with all departments by participating in issue identification, impact, implementation of workarounds, strategize on long term solutions, prioritization then scheduling with project management; Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle and change management; Deep understanding of complex application problems and the ability to produce quality software documentation including: requirements specifications, design documents and unit test plans; Ability to lead in the analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation of our solutions; Advanced concepts of data analysis; Advanced knowledge on web development; knowledge of rapid application design (RAD) concepts; Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex transactional data into valuable analytical information; Demonstrate a high degree of originality and innovation in defining product and project level architecture; Influences the design of interfaces between products to ensure interoperability; Resolve design issues; Define new software product features; Develop large portions of software independently and rapidly; Champion new, improved design methodologies; Define Reliability, Availability, Serviceability (RAS) goals for products.
