Job Summary
The CNA will interact directly with patients, providing therapeutic support, comfort and transportation within the facility, monitoring patient vital signs and assisting with daily living needs. The CNA shall be a dedicated, compassionate and energetic individual who will serve the significant role of identifying and  communicating patient needs and addressing them directly or in conjunction with nursing and other facility clinical staff.
Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities: to include but not limited to the following :
• Assist with daily living activities. This includes delivering meals to patients, turning and ambulating patients and providing plenty of fresh water, as well as extra nourishment between meals
• Help patients with personal hygiene.
• Offers therapeutic support to patients, responding to concerns and encouraging their continued work in accomplishing recovery.
• Provide adjunct care for the patient, such as ice packs and non-sterile dressings
• Check vital signs and record daily information in the patient’s chart
• Assist the nurses and other staff as needed
• Adhere to professional standards, follow policies and procedures and abide by federal, state and local requirements, as well as Joint Commission standard
• Complete Hourly Checks for patients
• Assist with moving patients as needed
• Other duties as assigned within scope of work
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
• High School diploma or GED
• Completion of a state-approved CNA certification training course
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to work as part of a team and to handle multiple tasks safely and effectively
• Good communication skills, including the ability to communicate sensitive information with empathy (“bedside manner”)
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Certificates and Licenses:
• Certified Nursing Assistant
• CPR certified.
Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities:
• Ability to read, write, communicate and understand directions in English.
• Demonstrates accuracy in taking manual vital signs
• Strong interpersonal skills are required to gather information from individuals, build relationships, intervene in difficult situations and provide excellent customer service
• Computer literate - minimum of data entry skill
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to sit, use hands and fingers, talk or hear, and smell continually.  Ability to stand, walk and reach frequently. Ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch occasionally.
• Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
• Close vision required to see computer monitor, read documents, and operate copy and fax machine.  Distance vision required to drive an automobile, if driving is a requirement of the job.
• Work environment is indoors and climate controlled.  Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
• Moderate noise levels as found in a business office with computer printers, households with TVs and dishwashers, and driving light traffic.
