Description: Accountant II, Fixed Asset Job Locations US-KY-Owensboro ID 2021-1739 Category Accounting/Finance Type Full-TimeOverview This position will be responsible for various tasks in meeting the Company's internal and external reporting and filing requirements related to the Company's fixed assets and depreciation. Roles would include but are not limited to: the gathering of data; ensure integrity of company asset records; distribution of records; analyzing accounts; and corresponding with internal and external professionals. Reporting requirements include but are not limited to the Company's equity investors and debt holders; and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. The position will handle a diverse range of assignments requiring the use of experience, innovation and judgment. Successful persons will plan and conduct work requiring minimum supervision while exercising latitude for unviewed decisions. Responsibilities Primary responsibilities include (but not limited to): Prepare monthly depreciation and amortization entriesReview Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) to validate that the project should be treated as a capital expenditureMaintain fixed asset records including additions, retirements and book depreciation Gas Plant In-Service (GL101)Support the preparation of the annual budget and periodic forecasts by projecting depreciation and certain O&M expensesAssists in the preparation and monitoring of AFUDC calculations and adjustmentsAssists in the preparation of FERC's annual and quarterly forms filings (e.g. Form 2, and Form 3Q) along with preparation of requests due to Rate Case Aids in the preparation of monthly roll forward detail of utility plant, capital expenditures analysis, and depreciation summaryInvoice project costs as required by reimbursable construction contractsMonitor and review Construction on Process (CIP) and work closely with field personnel to ensure timely in-service dates with proper useful lives and asset classificationsPerform reporting and analysis, including monthly, quarterly, and annual management reporting of capital expenditures and audit supportSupport quarterly financial and SOX auditsSupport the monthly reports for projects approved by the Board of DirectorsSupport FERC rate cases and FERC auditsCollaborate with project managers to ensure accuracy of charges and timeliness of closure to fixed assetsOther duties as assigned Qualifications Minimum Position requires a bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related financial degree (Finance, Economics, etc.) with a minimum of Principles of Accounting I & II3 - 6 years' experience of relevant work experienceIntermediate knowledge of accounting practices and fixed asset accountingMotivated dependable self-starterStrong verbal and written skillsStrong analytical skills with attention to detailStrong time management skills, ability to handle multiple projects, meet deadlines and function independently in a face paced environmentExcellent organization skillsMust be team oriented and possess good interpersonal skills (interacting and ability to work with others within the organization)Intermediate user of Microsoft ExcelIntermediate experience in PowerPlan or another fixed asset systemPreferredCPA designation Public accounting experience Experience in the natural gas industry and FERC accounting#usatoday Employment Type: Full-time
