Full Job Description Senior Supervisor - ( 2100012L )
Hillsborough County will require all applicants scheduled to attend an on-boarding session on or after August 30, 2021 to show proof of being fully vaccinated before their employment can begin. Fully vaccinated is two full weeks after final vaccination shot.
Job Overview
This position is responsible for performing day-to-day operational management duties for a functional unit which provides routine programs and services for voluteers and members of the public department wide. The position will oversee Customer Service Representatives and is responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising, tracking and controlling the work of the CSRs, volunteers and public outreach efforts to achieve various unit/section objectives.
This position will be posted for 3 days or until 25 applications have been received
Minimum Qualifications
• Graduation from an accredited four year degree granting college or university; AND
• Two years of experience directly related to the position's duties

Duties and Responsibilties

Depending on assigned area of responsbility, incumbents in the position may perform some or all of the activities described below.
• Manages the day-to-day operations of the pet intake program. Coordinates and administered assigned program resources.
• Manages the day-to-day operations of the volunteer program throughout Pet Resources. Coordinates and administers assigned programs and resources. Prepares and implements targeted approaches for volunteer recruitment and retention.
• With department leadship, sets direction and priorities and allocates staff, volunteers and resources to projects and unit initiatives.
• Provides supervision, guidance, training and motivation to assigned staff and volunteers; assignes monitors and reviews work; evaluates performance and initiates corrective action as needed, including termination.
• Performs a variety of administrative duties in support of the unti's activities.
• Implements goals, policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure operational efficiency and effective administration of the unit. Monitors work flow, data accuracy, and overall quality of work; assures processes and procedures are accomplished according to established guidelines.
• Assesses staffing needs and identifies shortfalls and ptoential new roles for volunteers; interviews, recruites and hires new volunteers.
• Coordinates with other branches/sections within own organization and external agencies/departments to ensure effecient flow of communications and services.
• Participates in budget development by providing detailed justification and persuasive arguments for proposals or unit initiatives, but has no direct budget approval responsibility.
• Other related duties as assigned.
Job Specifications
• Knowledge of the funtions, services, procedures and regulations of all department units, with special emphasis on customer service/intake of pets.
• Knowledge of best practices in impementing programs for animal welfare organizations.
• Skill in application of supervisory technigues.
• Ability to implement national best practices in voluneerism to support, promotes, and ensure alignment with the department's/agency's goals and vision.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others within and outside own organization.
• Ability to use initiative and excercise sound judgment.
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
• Ability to effectively manage and guide group efforts.
• Ability to create solutions to problems using new methods and processes.
Physical Requirements
• Work is primarily perfomred indoors in an office setting, with some outdoor w2ork for training stff with animals. Outsife there is kennel noise and occasional summer heat, rain and colder within in winter. Occasionally required to use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, or controls and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Frequently lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or moving objects.
Work Category
• Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that of sedentary work and if the worker sits most of the time, the job is consiered light work.
Emergency Management Responsibilities
In the event of an emergency or disaster, an employee may be required to respond promptly to duties and responsibilities as assigned by the employer's department, the County's Office of Emergency Management, or County Administration. Such assignments may be for before, during or after the emergency/disaster.
