This position is eligible for consideration for a hybrid schedule that allows for a combination of in-office and approved alternate workstation scheduling. The agency may terminate or modify the telecommuting arrangement at any time.
Description
The Education and Workforce Development Cabinet’s mission is to educate, prepare and train Kentucky's current and future workforces. The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation empowers individuals with disabilities to maximize employment, achieve economic self-sufficiency and independence, and to contribute back to society. We also help businesses and employers recruit, retain and accommodate employees with disabilities.
We are seeking a Voc Rehab Program Specialist II in the Transition Services Branch to perform independent professional vocational rehabilitation pre-employment transition functions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Reviews all referrals for potentially eligible students for pre-employment transition services.
• Communicates with service providers and school personnel regarding eligibility, when services should begin and what specific services are to be provided.
• Ensures all required documentation is entered into the pre-employment transition data management system.
• Reviews, monitors and evaluates progress of students. Recommends modifications when necessary.
• Upon reviewing benchmarks, makes the recommendation regarding when students should apply for additional voc rehab services in order to prepare to enter into gainful employment and determines when students should exit pre-employment services if students chooses not to apply for voc rehab services.
• Reviews, authorizes and process all pre-employment transition service invoices.
• Communicates with providers regarding what documentation is required for payment for services.
• Communicates effectively and frequently with students, parents, school staff and providers regarding the provision of services.
• Serves on inter-disciplinary teams to provide professional input regarding pre-employment transition services.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a master's degree in rehabilitation, rehabilitation teaching or therapy, guidance and/or counseling, psychology, sociology, orientation and mobility, social work, special education, education, education with emphasis in vocational counseling, or a related field.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Two years professional experience in rehabilitation, rehabilitation teaching or therapy, vocational assessment, employer relations, rehabilitation technology, rehabilitation counseling, vocational evaluation, supported employment, job placement, guidance and/or counseling, psychology, sociology, orientation and mobility, social work, special education, education, education with emphasis in vocational counseling, customized employment, health studies, human relations, human resources, occupational therapy, physical therapy, school counseling, or a related field.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: A bachelor's degree plus two years of professional experience in rehabilitation, rehabilitation teaching or therapy, vocational assessment, employer relations, rehabilitation technology, rehabilitation counseling, vocational evaluation, supported employment, job placement, guidance and/or counseling, psychology, sociology, orientation and mobility, social work, special education, education, education with emphasis in vocational counseling, customized employment, health studies, human relations, human resources, occupational therapy, physical therapy, school counseling, or a related field will substitute for the required master's degree.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in an office setting. Occasional travel will be required to coordinate services between customers and the agency.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
