POSITION SUMMARY:
Sr. Biological Scientist will be responsible for the independent technical support for multiple ongoing scientific projects. Work includes contribution to the design and execution of research protocols, data analysis, and preparation of publications.  This is a time limited position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Isolation and preparation of high quality RNA and genomic DNA, cell culture, in vitro assays for assessing impact of specific gene products on cancer-related cellular phenotypes, including rates of proliferation, apoptosis, colony formation, assessing levels of gene and non-coding RNA expression by qPCR, Western blot and immunoprecipitation.
• Responsible for the creation and synthesis of tissue specific expression vectors for both protein-coding gene products and non-coding RNA, targeting levels of gene and non-coding RNA expression in vitro and in vivo, synthesis of nanoparticle systems for siRNA and miRNA delivery.
• Responsible for the creation and management of xenograft models for ovarian and uterine cancer.
• Responsible for literature searches on specific scientific topics relevant to ongoing lab-based projects.
• Laboratory management, including obtaining quotes, ordering supplies, arranging for maintenance of scientific hardware, laboratory safety surveys and inventory of chemicals and reagents.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
• This position requires a Bachelor's degree in a natural or medical science and 2 years of research experience; or a Master's degree in a natural science. Progressively responsible experience involving scientific laboratory or field work may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree.
