You Will Be Responsible For:
• Ability to communicate effectively in written, electronic and verbal form to patients, public, staff, and physicians.
• Ability to function independently on assigned patient care units and also with non-patient care duties (office, projects, committees).
• Ability to counsel and educate others and adapt method of teaching style to accommodate different lifestyles or backgrounds.
• Attends staff meetings as appropriate or provides any information needed prior to meetings.
• Establishes and maintains positive communication with staff.
• Communicates with patient and/or family.
• Communicates with physician or any member of the patient care team with any pertinent data needed to ensure nutrition care plan is implemented.
• Communicates with patient / parent / guardian regarding plan of care based on assessed level of comprehension, understanding and readiness to learn.
• Provides patient/parent education based on assessed education level, barriers to learning, and learning preferences.
What You Will Need:
• Completes a minimum of a bachelor's degree at a U.S. regionally accredited university or college and course work approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of The Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics (AND)
• Completes a CADE-accredited supervised practice program at a healthcare facility, community agency, or a foodservice corporation, or combined with undergraduate or graduate studies
• Registered Dietitian(RD) with Florida State License (Or proof of submission for FL License if out of state)
• OR
• Registered Dietitian Eligible (RDE) - Must sit for Registration exam and pass within 120 days of hire in order to maintain employment.  Once Registration obtained, must show proof of Florida State Licensure submission.  NOTE: RDE will have all medical record documentation co-signed by Registered/Licensed Dietitian until Primary Source Verification of Registration and Florida Licensure is obtained. provide education to patients and their families.
• Possess a high level of organizational skills and effective time management to prioritize and adjust workflow according to changing needs.
• Ability to function in demanding and emergency situations.
• Possess orientation to detail.
• Be proficient in computer skills.
• Ability to adapt to change.
Job Summary:
Works closely with the physician practice, specifically within bariatric surgery practices, to provide medical nutrition therapy that is integrated and compatible with the patient’s medical program goals and objectives.
