Medical Staff Coordinator is responsible for the administrative functions related to the credentialing and privileging process for physicians and allied health professionals.
Demonstrates accountability and responsibility in providing support and oversight in the day-to-day operations of the department. Contributes to optimizing customer satisfaction and the continuity and effective operation of the department.
Provides administrative support and optimizes physicians’ time; handles daily functions and manages all physician credentialing and privileging activities. Coordinates and oversees all clerical functions.
Collects and accurately compiles all required data to meet regulatory requirements for credentialing function.  Prepares all collected & verified data for presentation to appropriate hospital committees for approvals.
Ensures departmental files, policy and procedure manuals, and reports for various hospital, state and Federal organizations are maintained and up to date.
Maintains proactive and effective communication with all members of the departmental team and communicates any concerns appropriate staff immediately. Continuously evaluates administrative operational procedures and recommends changes as appropriate.
Support hospital initiates in meeting core measures, patient safety and service excellence goals.

High school diploma or equivalent (GED); Associates degree in healthcare preferred

One to two years experience in a medical staff office preferred. Knowledge of State, Federal, and JCAHO regulations. Previous credentialing and management experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

Current Certified Professional Medical Staff Management (CPMSM) and/or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) with the National Association Medical Staff Services is preferred.
