Job Title: Biological Scientist OPS
Hiring Salary/Salary Range: $16.52 hourly; 40 hours weekly
ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The USF Health Taneja College of Pharmacy is managed by the Dean and an actively engaged administrative leadership team.  The mission of the college is to Transform Health through educating students to be outstanding and successful practitioners and leaders in the profession; through leading in discovery and innovation of education and practice in pharmacy; and through delivering the highest quality care in diverse, interprofessional clinical and community settings.
POSITION SUMMARY:
A full-time research position is available at the University of South Florida - Taneja College of Pharmacy. Technician should be able to perform standard laboratory procedures routinely used for mammalian tissue culture and molecular biology; should be able to effectively maintain records of the results. Training for specific experiments and use of equipment will be provided. Good organization skills and communication skills are required for this position. Technician will meet with the Principal Investigator (PI) on a weekly basis to update on progress of experiments. Competence and independence of conducting experiment is expected
RESPONSIBLITIES:
• Performs sample preparation
• Conducts routine experiments and process data for routine work under supervision.
• Knowledge and understanding of lab safety and housekeeping standards and practiced in daily activities.
• Performs literature searches for appropriate laboratory techniques.
• Learns and keeps familiar with lab procedures.
• Keeps a well-documented laboratory notebook and have it co-signed within one week.
• Responsible for communicating with supervisor and team members.
• Records and communicates any unexpected differences in test results.
• Provides in-depth data analysis summary, using DOE/statistics when applicable.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
• This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a natural, physical or medical science. Progressively responsible experience involving scientific laboratory or field work may be substituted for the required college education on a year for year basis.
PREFERRED:
• Master’s Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Biology or Pharmacy.
OTHER:
• Motivated self-starter.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including facilitation and presentation skills.
• Ability to follow SOPs.
